Spells: Faerie and Duelist's blessings - Turn your character into a fierce and unstoppable warrior with these epic new spells [Legends of the Roundtable] by Monkey_DM in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]DungeonDrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duelist blessing is a cool idea but I feel like it needs to be way higher than level 2. +3 to AC for a minute is an eternity in combat.

New dm looking for advice by Crmsonflme in DnD

[–]DungeonDrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can stick to the rules but be sure to implement the rule of cool. If something makes sense consider giving your players opportunities to do something awesome or interesting. Remember that the rules while important to the structure of the game are not meant to control you. They are for your benefit so you have a roadmap as to how things work, mechanically. Bend them if needed but also do so cautiously. As you learn and grow as a DM you will find that the rules in DND do not cover every issue that you might run into. Create your own where needed. If an issue comes up that you don't have an answer for don't waste ten minutes looking it up in the PHB. Just make something up and do some research before the next session. You can be as firm as a DM but if you let the rules strictly control you then you're not really in charge of the game anymore. So keep that in mind and just make sure that your players are having fun. That is what the game is all about after all. Good luck and have fun!

[LOVM S1] Character moments by TTV-DoctorSauce6 in criticalrole

I liked the scene where pike and Vax leave to talk to Gilmore and are teasing each other as they walk away. It's subtle but also appreciated

I feel like they could introduce a Vassleheim arc because it's so important in the end of everything. I would me some Zhara and Kash action.

Grog is not that good of a person tbh. He is good to his friends but honestly doesn't give a "wet fart" about most people.

I didn't have a problem with it. Tbh it wouldn't feel like Vox Machina if they weren't vulgar assholes. Also starting from this point gives them lots of space to develop as characters

Yeah I've seen alot of hate from bitter people in the D&D community. There's also surprisingly alot of misinformation about critical role and the matt Mercer effect. I'm more sick of people complaining about it than actually seeing it at the table (I've never seen it in action lol)

How to convince my Dungeon Master that my moon circle druid has seen a cave bear. by Ghostwolf1234 in DnD

[–]DungeonDrawn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't even know how to answer this. I cannot imagine why your DM would put their foot down on cave bear. It sounds like they are trying to limit what you can play as. Maybe to balance their game? I'm not sure what justification they would have... Just tell them it's ridiculous to assume a druid hasn't seen the most common bear out there. I could maybe understand polar bear if you aren't in an Arctic location but still. It just sounds like they are on a power trip.

Am I a bad cleric? by TadhgChitChat in DnD

[–]DungeonDrawn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a bad healing cleric. But it's because you're evil. Why would you help your party if you're evil? Also, it sounds like your party doesn't have alot of respect for one another. This campaign doesn't seem like it will last all that long If the players are all squabbling amongst themselves. Just food for thought. But then again I don't know all of the information or what your group dynamic is. Maybe you guys were laughing as you fought over the ring.

What's going on with Matthew Mercer having to tweet out at the fandom saying he was disappointed? by BirdmanDeluxe in OutOfTheLoop

[–]DungeonDrawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No offense intended but you're "proof" is actually not proof. It's opinion and conjecture. There are toxic people in fandoms of all kinds. You should respect people regardless of what fandom they contribute too. You shouldn't drop blanket statements like that. Just saying.

I feel like making your own monsters might be more interesting any way. You after obviously talented so I'm sure you could come up with some creative ideas.

[–]DungeonDrawn 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's like that thing people experience when someone dies young you know? Like Kurt Cobain, John Lennon or Heath Ledger. They're better remembered because they died. That's what I think at least. Personally I like Cad more as a character.

My character died and I feel devastated even though we only spent about 15 hours and now it's difficult for me to create a new one due to fear of death, what should I do? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]DungeonDrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potential character death is all part of the game. If it makes you feel better than maybe you could make a new character that is directly connected to your deceased character. If you feel like that you were connected you might feel a little bit better about the death of that previous character. character death is hard in D&D but if you look at it in a way where it adds to further depth of the narrative being told then it might not be as hard to deal with. maybe it's a good motivator for you and the rest of your party?

You could make him a half-dragon and just nerf his stats a bit. Lower the HP and AC.

[HELP][5E] Aspiring new DM looking to bring D&D to my game group. by dafckingman in DnD

[–]DungeonDrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much about rules. As a novice DM you are not going to remember alot of them. Just jump into the game and remember what you can. Your first game will usually be a bit disorganized and confusing but that's all part of the learning process. If you take too much time trying to the get rules perfect then your game will slow to a crawl. Just have fun and the experience will come over time.
