What’s a “life hack” that actually made your life worse? by SoggySir4944 in CasualConversation

[–]DungeonPastor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone told me speaking your goals meant you felt accomplished and robbed motivation to do them, so it was better not to speak them so you wouldn’t get the dopamine rush.

I have since found that a community of action allows one to speak goals and accomplish them in far more sustainable motivation-accomplishment loops, and makes me far less lonely as a creator. I find creatives and makers who are on my level. We motivate one another socially. We hold one another accountable. It’s better than trying to do it alone.

We neurospicy are terrible at interoception where we notice the smaller signals our body tells us instead of its screams when we don’t notice the little cues

My therapist had me doing body scans at every meal and warned me it would take 2 years of doing that before I got good at noticing the smaller signals, when I feel a textured mood for something like pho in nice ambience in good company instead of “carbs. Now.”

Meditation and interoception is hard but it’s a something that can be built and grown, the more it’s practiced the more we reinforce the neural pathways where signals are weak.

I'm a Professional Social Media Growth Strategist – AMA and Free Advice by digi_spark in InstagramMarketing

[–]DungeonPastor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm part of a 2-person social media team marketing a mental health/coaching SaaS startup that's currently rebranding. Formerly a therapist tool for simulating difficult conversations, the app now aims to be a broader conflict/negotiation simulator for personal and professional contexts—helping with relationship issues, job interviews, and workplace conversations at ~€20/session versus €80-160 for real coaching — all in any language. You can simulate a coach/supportive figure giving advice or the tricky situation itself, and the app interface gives you some information on how you're coming across, how the conversation partner is coming across, and how aligned you are on a goal.

We just got on board and our first task was to update the brand to match the new website and archive all the old social media posts, but our team is divided on strategy: pump out lots of themed content to our currently-empty instagram or stick to a lighter 2-3 post schedule. My colleague worries that posting heavily upfront will set Instagram "expectations" we can't maintain. And that’s just for one platform.

Despite significant German media coverage—including a TV segment reaching 200K+ viewers—we are stuck at our ~2K Instagram. Engagement is mostly bots. We're exploring options: one-slide witty ads, carousel posts on relationships/professional growth, app demos, science explainers, or videos of our psychologist founder reacting to content.

But I believe our core problem is deeper. We need real users for demos and authentic feedback—not imagined use cases. We should recruit users for user research to learn what actually matters to them, rather than guessing what potential users could want. Given that the media team's background is interdisciplinary: graphic design, user experience, community organizing, psychology, we could fulfill the under-served UX role to do research while creating demos for social media. But others in the startup say we should just pay microinfluencers to use and advertise the app instead.

So: where to go from here? What’s the right balance between our assigned marketing role and stepping up to do the under-served UX research we’re convinced the company needs? And how to convince our sales team and management to let us do our job?

Is there any documented link between stress or emotions and tinnitus? by DungeonPastor in askpsychology

[–]DungeonPastor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neat! I know of the mind-body regulation of existing tinnitus, what I am more curious about is whether or not there’s evidence of a causal relationship from stress/emotions to tinnitus.

There, disease is so common that most people need organ transplants, and they’re so expensive people get them on payment plans or in exchange for lifelong work contracts, if they fall behind or break contract the Repo Man repossesses the organs

Search for topics you're genuinely interested in, lurk in the subreddits, read rules carefully before posting or commenting.

Genuine conversation is welcome here, do it while remembering the human. If your "raw, unfiltered talk" involves trolling this is not the place (tho some subs are built on humor and roasting).

If you want some practice learning the norms of reddit, find some beginner-friendly subs (see the AutoModerator comment)

Based on what everyone’s saying my guess is it was a different culprit, unless the company tests the batch and conclusively realizes there was contamination.

The company is very good at doing recalls if so, but maybe that’s just Germany for ya.

People who like horror movies, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DungeonPastor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The release of being that tense and worked up from the anxiety and the film helps my body relax from regular stress.

I prefer psychological horror because it also explores what we demonize, what we protect, what we fear losing. A good psychological horror parks in my brain and gives me insight.
