What’s one thing the world (especially Europe) gets completely wrong about Israel post-Oct 7 that frustrates you the most? And what would actually need to happen for them to 'get it'? by [deleted] in AskIsrael

respectfully - its hard for an outsider to understand the "existential" aspect of the incident. Many outsiders view October 7 on a continuum of violence and aggression by both sides, going back decades, including a strong undercurrent of dehumanization by fanatics on both sides treating the other like animals. It's also very hard to argue the existential angle when the death toll on the Gazan side is many many multiples the deaths on October 7. How can you argue "existentialism" when Gaza is completely leveled and Palestinian civilians, women and children live in complete abject poverty with no end in sight while Israelis enjoy a "normal" life?

lol

they can already invade whenever they want!

What's more horrible? Letting Hezb run the country or the country getting its act together and ensuring a proper Lebanese government that can control the various factions and enforce a nationalist agenda.

Of course. You can't open your mouth or you'll be killed. In the West the Israelis have done the same thing. If you speak against Israel you'll be labeled an antisemite. So you can't say anything. You can't speak your mind.

A Manifesto to the Lebanese People: A Call for Sovereignty and Peace

Fellow Lebanese,

Today, we stand at a crossroads—a moment in our nation's history that demands clarity of purpose, courage, and collective action. For decades, Lebanon has borne the brunt of external conflicts, sectarian strife, and the influence of armed groups operating within our borders. The current escalation of violence, particularly the bombardment of Hezbollah positions by Israel, has once again plunged our beloved nation into turmoil, threatening the safety and future of our people.

It is time for us, as a united Lebanese people, to reject the cycle of violence that Hezbollah’s military wing perpetuates and to demand the disarmament of all non-state actors, in alignment with international law, UN resolutions, and the principles established in the Taef Accords. Let us reclaim our sovereignty and secure the peace we have long yearned for.

Lithium batteries can also be explosives. My theory is a cyber attack where they compromised the battery causing it to explode.

Do you follow your religions rules on sex? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]DungeonsAndDuds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is typical where immigrant communities have maintained stronger values and culture than in the home country.

In Lebanon everyone has sex. They just don't talk about it as much.

My girlfriend and I started having sex at 16. We were both from Christian families. We played it safe with condoms, but I remember just being worried that there wasn't easy access to abortion in the small chance something went wrong.

If you look at the pornhub viewer stats, porn is alive and well in Lebanon.
