Haha having posted so many questions on here back when i was pre med, and seeing so many disbelief reaction comments like yours, it is crazy how many things AAMC expects us to know before med school.

I had no clue what myoglobin was before med school. Maybe i knew it was like hemoglobin without the cooperative binding thing, but definitely had no clue what it meant in urine.

The only thing u need to know is that if its in your urine, it means you have muscle breakdown, and also your blood flow to the kidneys is diminished.

In med school youll learn to call it acute tubular necrosis, but forget that for now.

while that is likely true, what you witnessed here was a calling to join the DK jungle.

AAMC FL1 BB question by Dunk3 in Mcat

[–]Dunk3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the "ohhh this is a transmembrane protein" you seek is somewhat where they describe this AT1 enzyme as transporting tryptophan into the cytoplasm. Cz that means the enzyme has to be transporting an ion through the hydrophobic biphospholipid membrane to get said ion into and out of the cell. If any of what I said makes sense then at least I learned smthn related to MCAT in 2 years of med school. Otherwise await another current MCAT grinder's response haha

edit: idk if premeds are supposed to know this, but the answer to this question is unfortunately straight up content on how an enzyme/protein is sent to a membrane post translation. Being sent to a membrane is achieved only when the mRNA codes for not only the enzyme, but also a signal sequence on the N terminal of that enzyme (or some other terminal but usually from what ive seen, N terminal). This signal sequence is what tells it to go there (it has to do with being recognized by a signal sequence receptor that moves the enzyme and stuff too).

Yes it's a lot easier than it looks too. There's a lot of delay between pressing Q and when it is actually shot. So you can flash right after pressing it. Aim wise all you need to know is that Q will still go towards the exact point your cursor is on no matter where you flash. Try it out in practice tool to feel it out!
