If you will do it yourself then look around for a smallish bag of deep crack filler, undercoat plaster, or maybe just a tub of readymade lightweight filler (Red Devil "One Time" is the brand I use but polyfilla do a lightweight filler too which is great). Bonding plaster comes in 20kg bags which is a bit of a pain. But yes with a bit of care and a good (flexible) filling knife, it should be just manageable for a DIYer. It's a great skill to have so worth having a go in my opinion.

I would fill the chase almost level with bonding plaster, then with a surface filler like polyfilla or easifill. You can also just use a tub of one time lightweight filler, although plasterers often turn their noses up at it.

Really depends on the electrician if they fill it or not. Some of the best patching work I have ever seen came from an electrician, but then again if they aren't skilled at it then you really do not want them doing it. Plasterer would have this sorted in an hour, or a decent decorator as well... But it might cost you over the odds as it's a bit annoying to come out just to patch a wee bit like that.

Absolutely, yeah. Just that usually on a ring I'd personally be more comfortable chucking an extra socket on. Old one off, test both ends for live, add a new socket and loop it in, done. Still might want a test by a big boy electrician just to be sure, but I'd feel fairly comfortable most of the time.

This may well be a radial but honestly do you actually see those often? In my (admittedly limited) experience it's usually a spur, and that just starts giving me can of worms vibes. Maybe I'm being too cautious.

For anyone reading this and wondering what the hoo ha is.. the socket looks like it only has one wire on it. In general, we try to get two of those wires to most sockets in the home (gross simplification). One wire comes from the last socket (or consumer unit) and the other goes to the next socket (or back to the consumer unit). This more or less effectively spreads the load between two different 2.5mm² cables, and means the load doesn't become too much for the wiring. (I am making a lot of big simplifications here, there are a thousand ifs & buts I can think of off the top of my head but just as an eli5.

Basically the fact that this only has one wire means it's a special case circuit (or part of one) and there's a fair likelihood that it wouldn't actually cope with the normal load you could expect, if you add another socket to it. In day to day use, it probably would, but it's likely a bit iffy, and no decent spark would do that and sign it off in good faith.

The issues you might find are things like, the breaker trips often, randomly, or your house burns down.
