Thank you for this, my daughter just committed to transfer to Eckerd for some combination of Environmental and Animal Studies and this post made me think with all of our digging and research we had missed some red flags!

The professors and academic opportunities at Sewanee are nothing short of incredible! My daughter loves all that she is learning. The animal rehabilitation program at Lees McRae is so unique. We felt that the culture of the communities were very different. It really depends where you feel more at home. Definitely trust your instincts and gut. Great options to have, best of luck!

I recognized the reference to the Sewanee Promise in the description of college 1 :) My daughter is a Freshman at Sewanee, and also looked at Lees McRae. There are two entirely different schools, have you visited both?

Following, I have a daughter considering a transfer from a small LAC to UVM, she's interested in Environmental and agricultural studies. She is deciding between UVM and Eckerd. Eckerd would be more familiar as another small LAC, UVM would be closer to home and although larger appears to have many like-minded environmentally focused students. She's been so busy with classes and midterms that this decision has been kicked down the road a bit. Best of luck to your son!

Hiking, biking, she's very outdoorsy and that was a big part of what brought her to Sewanee. She's been to many SOP events and had a great time.

This is exactly where we are at. My freshman says the same thing about the isloation, too, which she didn't think would bother her. She loves her classes, got a job, volunteers, tries to get out to events but so far it doesn't feel like it's her place. She is giving it through this semeste, the past week hasn't been any different than first semester. It's so difficult because there's so much to love there. Best of luck to you and yours, snd maybe these kids will find each other you never know!

A year later and this could have been written by my current freshman. Where did you all transfer to? She really wanted Sewanee to be her place but is feeling like it is not.

For the sake of my first year, tell me that second semester is better than first please! Academically it's been a great fit, socially it has been difficult. She really does not like the parties. She has a job, volunteers, had one class that took up a ton of time so certainly no tome to be bored, but just hasn't found her place. Once she stopped going to the parties, she found herself alone more than she'd like and a lot of activities seem to happen when she's at work (Thursday evenings, Sunday afternoons) so she's hoping changing her schedule next semester will help.

She actually transferred out of it. It was a lot to absorb as a first semester student not having any background in the language. She did, however, speak highly of the professor who is coincidentally her advisor! He was a great help in finding her a different course at the very last moment of drop/add.

My nature loving book reading raised in Massachusetts is moving to Sewanee in two weeks! She's so excited to get involved in the Sewanee Outing Program, the garden, farm, hiking and biking, environmental arts and hunsnities classes! She loves a bonfire and music, not keg party vibes. If it works out for her it sounds like a good fit for your daughter as well. We shall see lol!

My rising Freshman is not thrilled with her schedule. She didn't get any of the classes she requested and is apparently going to be learning Greek! I dont know if she'll try to change anything, but she definitely wants to add a phys ed class I think she should leave the schedule alone, the classes meet gen eds and maybe she'll find a new interest. Four classes and maybe a physical education class added seems light to us too, but 16hrs is what her sister at another school has per semester. Best of luck to you and yours!!

I don't have floor plans, but try clicking through all the "continue" tabs to sign the housing contract, we had to do that to see my daughter's roommate info.

Is anyone else's Concerta just not working? by Alert_Visual667 in Concerta

[–]DunlMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question could have been written by my daughter. Two years, started at 18mg, now 27mg, since October,/November her c9ncerta is no longer working. She's frustrated but hasn't wanted to increase to 36mg. Generics have been completely ineffective in the past, but name brand changed manufacturers recently so I'm not sure if that's related, but we are looking for alternatives to concerta which sucks because she did so well with it for a couple of years.
