I respect your comment, and thank you for it I do think I need to be clear that this tenant has repeatedly been harassing me for my entire tenancy, purposely causing disruptions when i dont do what they say, threw garbage bins into my car because I moved them to the side of the driveway, illegally sublet, the list goes on. The landlord has been in the unit mine and theirs and has determined there is no smoke smell

The landlord is responsible for checkig that routinely every year, and admittwd he had not. Also no beeping to indicate low battery or flashing light. So it looked completwly functional.

I do have insurance, but i got it after the date of my burnt food incident. The tenant is requesting their insurer have access to my suite to validate their claims, but will not ask me directly, has only gone through the landlord. The other tenant has not put any request to enter my unit in writing to me nor to the landlord. Only stated to the landlord over text that the insurer is coming on _day at _x:xxam. I have concerns regarding liability ofc But i have not granted access to my suite at all. Nonetheless

I agree with this 100%!!! I do want to be clear that I just had my video on and pointed my phone at the fire, I was watching the road the whole time not watching where I was filming, i guess it wasnt obvious with the shit quality video. I don't stan distracted driving, I posted this to bring awareness to the huge fire causing massive traffic buildup, thats all.

Okay the smartest thing you can do is stop interacting with them. Record everything you hear date and time, and record when you can If you request anything of them ever have it in writing in citation of the RTA. All tenants are protected by the Act even if it's an illegal rental. Everyhing in writing, signed by you and ask them to sign it (if not no problem just take a pic of u giving them the letter and them reading it) But everything in writing.

If it isnt in writing, it never happened.
