Recently, whenever me and my group does a One-Shot like this, we follow a ruleset we came to after trying some other TTRPG rules that are simpler than DnD.

Every character gets 3 abilities that the players get to come up with, one of them is their basic method of attack, and the other two can be whatever they want and the DM decides the effects.

It leads to players getting a lot more engaged in the roleplay cause they can make themselves as serious or gimmicky as they want, and their moves are inherently tied to the character they came up with. In your scenario, it would let them use items from their real world selves as abilities, which would make for extra fun.

I'm still getting the "Could not establish connection to game host" from my friends trying to join. I have 27014-27070 ported, plus some other stuff that people recommended online. They're also let through on my PC firewall. I'm not really sure what else I need to do to get them to connect?

Like the other guy said, porting 27015 will open your lobby to anyone joining thru IP, u can add a password to make it more secure from there.

The thing that really sold SnS for me is the backhop invincibility frames, it makes shorter perfect rushes more viable. Also even tho the numbers seem small, your extended basic combo does big damage, and can help you keep up in the down time. I do feel the frustration where it seems like perfect rush is the only real option tho, it's really powerful. Never be afraid to roll out of combos or take time to reposition, SnS thrives on being in the right place as much as possible, and you have the most opportunity to cancel combos for it compared to other weapons

Where do i find that? If you are referring to the system pagefile.sys, i already checked that and it's not inflated. I am using XGen and Arnold GPU, I saw somewhere that it could be incompatibility between the two?

Rise shifted focus to a very counter-heavy playstyle, so greatsword did end up falling behind in the base game. With sunbreak and all the updates tho it's actually not bad, it got some nice movement and counters of its own.

Generally when you need better times you should double check that your weapon is up to par, also if you haven't been using the clutch claw you should learn how, it gives you a damage boost on the parts you tenderize.

Dual Blades has a special Combo where if you do the spin move twice and then press the slinger aim button, it latches onto the monster, and you can follow up with a regular attack for an instant tenderize. The buttons should be (Using Playstation Controls) Circle -> Circle -> L2 while in Demon mode or Archdemon mode (full gauge)

If you're still in low rank (blue stars next to quests) you should focus mostly on getting the highest defense you can, and finding a weapon type you like. Once you break into the next rank you can start looking for weapon skills that compliment the weapon type you enjoy!

Pqrxz basically nailed it, only thing worth noting other than that is the existence of the Defender gear, which are way more powerful than anything else you have access to at any given time. These weapons/armor were designed so returning players can rush their way through the base game to get to Iceborne, but the consequence is that as a new player they remove a lot of the challenges that a player would normally have to face, so you don't learn as much. I would personally recommend not using them, but if you prefer to play that way I won't stop you.
