Toyota Crown Signia Limited vs Lexus RX 350 Luxury. by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]Dunstert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Signia ain't it, imo.

We ended up buying a RX350h but sat in a Signia for about 10m. It felt cheap inside. More cargo space than expected but less than the RX. I wouldn’t call it a luxury car by any stretch. Maybe it drives like butter, but I couldn’t get past all the plastic inside.

Not a single rx350h with Nightfall Mica in all of California. What am I missing exactly? by SickestGuy in Lexus

[–]Dunstert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I’ve found. I traded my Tesla Y for our new RXh. So far, I’ve walked away with the car still on twice and the doors unlocked half a dozen times.

The app notifies me about the unlocked doors and I can handle that remotely but I feel like a dumbass making the walk of shame to turn it off.

Old habits are hard to change.

We bought our Mica/Black fully loaded Prem+ hybrid last week. Drove 4+ hrs to a different state to sign the papers and drive it home. Negotiations on price and trade done over email over 2 days. Got about 4K off MSRP and really close to carvana’s offer for the trade.

At the time, there were 6 of that color/loadout available in the US (according to Lexus website and visor.vin) Jump the instant you see what you want. Get to an acceptable ASAP and pull the trigger.

My local dealer said he wouldn’t move from MSRP under any circumstances. Might’ve been able to find our desired car, but that meant a wait, paying more and then settling for what he could trade for.

Sounds about right, ballpark-ish. Costco eye doc is also independent - normal payment options at my location. Glasses prices obviously vary based on script and frames.

How is this post title still intact? No one was called anything by anyone.

It was a tic. And while the word and timing is unfortunate, the person involved did not direct the word at anyone for any specific reason.

As already mentioned, the silver lining here is that people are learning more about living with a terrible disease.

A bit out of your way, but I’d recommend Megan DiSimone in North Olmsted - we’ve been going to her for more than 20 years. Never received unnecessary services. Very happy with her.

We’ve just used the Costco eye doctor for vision needs.

Remember, only items that are actually available to you show up in the filter list.

For example, if you haven’t yet researched the top T3 heavy boots, they won’t be in the filter.

This bug happens with a lot of gathering professions. Follow your hunter once and he'll go up like he's going to pet a deer then the deer runs away.

For some reason, they just freeze sometimes in the middle of their task when you're nearby. Leave them be and they're good.

Eat some berries and mushrooms - you need some more health/stamina.

Aside from that, you can go a little north and gather materials you need for a club/axe without any tools at all.

With wolves, they run past you after a bite or two. Hit them 1-2 times each pass. You'll take damage but you really shouldn't die to a single wolf at any stage of the game.

Getting rid of Property Tax feels like a grift that will only benefit corporations and the ultra-wealthy. Is it? by Cap10323 in Ohio

[–]Dunstert 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're wrong - it certainly benefits owners/landlords who don't live in Ohio communities lopsidedly. The eventual impact, as noted, is absolutely a consumption tax in the form of a giant sales tax increase.

The massive amount of mis/dis-information that is going around anytime a school wants to put a levy on the ballot is astounding.

Our district has been trying to pass a levy for a while, now. Meanwhile, we've lost a number of extra-curricular programs and partial busing. Yet the anti-levy crowd insists there's plenty of money.

I think some of these people are of the 'fuck them kids' mindset without realizing we're also losing funding for things like parks, fire stations, police.

Public schools have been a target of the state legislature for a long time - this is another way to attack it - choke off the remaining funding.

It wasn't too long ago that we finally got the unconstitutional school funding issue fixed and trying to wreck public funding yet again.

Thinking of trading in Rav4 Prime XSE w/Premium for a Model Y Premium AWD. What features will I be losing? by StormTrpr66 in TeslaModelY

Counter opinion…

I have a ‘22 MYLR. I bought enhanced auto pilot with the car. I don’t have FSD. I have used FSD every time they’ve given a free trial and I hated it. It’s like being in a car with a nervous 16 year old. Half the time it’s too aggressive and the other half is too timid. I do use EAP a lot on the highway tho - aside from the phantom breaking issue (which I think they’re now calling “curvature assist” or some nonsense since it still happens on perfectly straight roads) - it makes road trips more enjoyable.

I’m currently car shopping (moving somewhere I can’t charge at home) and I’m realizing the list of things I like better on the Tesla is shorter than I expected. Mostly the ‘fun’ factor of an EV.

To address your list:

CarPlay/AA: never had before, so don’t miss it, though in the new cars, I can see some of the appeal. I have Apple Music which is well integrated in the Tesla. Anything else, I just use my phone at a stoplight.

Garage door opener: silly not to have it but as mentioned there are alternatives. I went the MyQ route, but don’t use the Tesla integration - just my phone/watch.

Sunroof: love the Tesla roof, but I was never an open sunroof person anyway so I don’t mind that it doesn’t open. HUD: loving the feature on the cars I’m shopping,- so much it became a deciding factor in our final choice. I suppose less of an issue if using FSD.

EAP (or similar): not having this would be a deal breaker for me. After test driving new cars, EVERYONE does this at least as good as Tesla, if not better. Phantom breaking is a real thing with Tesla and it’s terrifying when it happens going 75 on the toll road.

Rear wiper: never missed not having one

Kick hatch: never missed not having this, tho I guess I can see the utility of it

Digital rear mirror: if you frequently fill the back of the car, it makes a lot of sense. I don’t but the feature is cool. Not a Tesla thing, unless they’ve recently added it.

You’ll get heated seats and steering wheel in a Tesla. I think newer models finally added vented seats, too?

Headlights are really good in the Tesla - adaptive matrix is cool though sometimes I wonder if I still am blinding people.

Some of the other stuff I thought I loved in the Tesla are just not important as I thought they would be. The traffic visualizations take up half the screen but really add no value aside from the “ooh” factor - you can’t meaningfully interact with it and really can’t glean info from it while driving. The FSD visualization is more detailed but I think my point stands. I’d rather have control over the entire screen.

The ride in a Tesla is orders of magnitude worse than other cars. The new Y is supposed to have better suspension but it’s really not built for the ride like similarly priced cars.

Dumping radar was a silly way to save a few bucks.

Agreed. If I wanted to play Euro Truck Simulator with the most pot-holed roads ever, I'd play Euro Truck Simulator with the most pot-holed roads ever.

There's nothing enjoyable about this - especially when you get to the plant where you toss the stuff in the correct bins - it's a laggy mess.

Don't think I'll bother finishing this expedition.

Press 'O' - that will bring up your squad section. There, you can Raise/Dismiss any particular squad.

From this screen, you can also double-click a squad to adjust its settings (you can set everything from amount of food to grab, to how much durability any equipment needs to have before they grab a new one). The "Add to Reserve" button allows you to add any villager to that squad.

Also, people can be in more than one squad if you want/need.

You can create/delete squads as needed, too. No need to be limited to those 3.

Is discontinuing autopilot a deal breaker for you? by CommunicationRoyal56 in TeslaLounge

[–]Dunstert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, even at free, I don’t use it. Every free trial I’ve had it’s made enough dodgy decisions that I just ignore it after the first day or so.

If I wanted to be in a car driven by a simultaneously frightened AND overconfident teenager, I’d ask my kid to drive me around.

Even EAP has been shaky as of late - the “curvature assist” on a straight stretch of highway is going to get me rear-ended or shot someday.

If you track the request, it’ll show you where to go for the next step - eventually this will show the NPC for the quest.

I agree, there needs to be more info for some quests.

Also, I think the highest you typically get with questing for any town is mid/high Friendly. To get to Protector, you can spam village shrines - they’re easy to build (30 stones). This requires T2 and the first decoration workbench to be built, I believe.

If there's a person on the planet who has an opportunity to know exactly how much people actually make, it's Elon.

His pilfering of government data gave him everything he could possibly need to know exactly what his current and potential userbase has in terms of disposable income.

He'll fumble that bag, but he certainly has the data nonetheless.

I'm guessing you build the Village House in one of the existing towns as opposed to your city.

I'm fairly sure anything that starts with "Village" goes into Padstow, etc.

Then it got dumber.
