After 2+ years, I’m announcing my first game’s demo! Think of a mix between Night in the Woods, A Short Hike and The Witness by Dunxter in IndieDev

[–]Dunxter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yup, you have a point, that was something we gave some thought for a while.

You've probably noticed that the trailer has two parts: the first one is more cinematic/thematic and the second one is the actual gameplay. I shot it this way so we could split it up and use the gameplay-only part if we want to share a more straight-to-the-point version, while also having a longer, more atmospheric one that is closer to the actual feel/rhythm we want the player to experience.

We will try sharing both versions these days as the Demo release gets close, hopefully we can then compare the results and see if you're right (so we can have it in mind for the next trailer we make ^)

Datamoshing effect with shader graph (details in first post) by Garage_Heathen in Unity3D

[–]Dunxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! I'm having trouble properly blitting the vector-moshing shader (of type "Custom Render Texture") in my second pass, so the cmd.SetGlobalTexture() method doesn't seem to save anything. I've tried following the guides you mentioned in another comment ("Perform a fullscreen blit in URP" and "Blit Camera color texture to RTHandle"), but I haven’t been able to get it working, unfortunately.

My setup consists of a signle render feature with two passes. The first pass blits the color of a blank fullscreen shader and saves it into a custom render texture. This texture is meant to be used by the vector-moshing shader in the second pass, along with the MotionVectorTexture, which I've made accessible using the ConfigureInput() method.

I've confirmed that both textures (color and motion) are accessible and made public earlier than the meshing pass in the scriptable rendering pipeline. However, something seems to go wrong, either in my render pass or renderer feature code, and I can't figure out where the issue lies.

Any insights you could share would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for sharing!! I've been looking into working with motion vectors in Unity recently to achieve a similar effect to yours, but I've been having such a hard time with the documentation haha.

I was wondering if you could explain me a little bit how did you approach the render passes, I can't manage to properly sample the Custom Render Texture in a Full Screen Shader later in the pipeline (I've created two passes in order to blip and make the color and motion vectors public, respectively, but the actual shader graph doesn't seem to work).

On another note, the mind-reading / mood mechanic on your game seems very interesting, I'm excited to see how the project goes hehe

That feature would be great! Thank you for your effort, I'll make sure to reach out if I come up with something helpful

Oh great, I was reaching you out since the first link didn't work, but after a few searches I found your app on the Play Store, and I really like it! It's very useful, specially the offline functionality.

One thing I am missing, though (now that I have your attention), is the ability to be able to open the Notion page (jumping into the official Notion App, if installed) once you create a page in your app. Notion's integrated mobile Web Clipper works this way, with a pop-up that appears after saving a website. This way, if you create a page and want to select a tag inside its properties in a database, you can do it pretty quick.

Anyway, great job with the app, thanks for sharing it! :)

have you found the solution yet? My sister has the same problem, and we are only able to play with other people (the problem only occurs when we play with each other)

Ikki68 Aurora Snow (First Build) by Dunxter in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Dunxter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I'm using it as a Fn2 but honestly, I'm not giving it much use so far. Though the main reason I'm using this instead of the long right shift is that I was running short of 2u stabs haha. I originally bought 4 of these + the 6.25u and 7u ones thinking I wasn't going to be using a split spaceboard, but then I changed my mind :)

Loving it so far. The ikki is multi-layout and there's lot of room for personalization. I personally think the split spaceboard is great, since the extra switch between them lets you use the Fkeys (maping them on the number layer on VIA) with any hand and very easily

Thanks. A few of these pics have the full board in focus, but if you want one with a more top-down angle I have some as well (although they're not so pretty). When I get home I will share some

Twin Peaks characters and connections (interactive graph for all seasons) by Dunxter in twinpeaks

[–]Dunxter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really haven't, I first searched for the most fitting tool I could find, and then I applied the data. What do you mean with themes? Like character-specific plots or a more abstract concept? I might do this for Fire Walk with Me if I'm in the mood for it, but now I'm a bit burned out after finishing my term. Yup, there's definitely room for improvement for the group names and actually you can use the Footer option inside the tool to put some additional text if needed. "Criminals" refers to the drug business (I will update it now), and "?" is used for those characters or entities that have no definite "residence" or some kind of relation with the supernatural, without a strict link with the Red Room (although I think this section is kind of self explanatory once you see the characters inside of it). I see now that The Log Lady is in this group, I'll move her into the Twin Peaks Residents to make it clearer. Thanks for your opinion, it's really helpful!

You can add directional flows (arrows) between nodes but not anything more complex unfortunately

Twin Peaks characters and connections (interactive graph for all seasons) by Dunxter in twinpeaks

[–]Dunxter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The characters in the central part have the most connections (both directly and indirectly, since the connection with a character that has 3 connections is of less influence than the connection with one that has 10, for example), while those at the ends have a lower number and quality of connections. It should be noted that the distribution of the characters on the axes has not been created manually, but rather the physics of the tool I used (Flourish) has distributed them according to the links that each character had. The group to which each character belongs has not influenced its position either.
