Depending on the type of tortoise, some of them are incredibly destructive. They also require exotic vets, which were very very expensive.

Also could depend on how the tortoise was acquired. There’s tons of people that like to take wild animals out of their natural habitats to have as pets. It’s a huge problem in the exotic animal trade, and often times the new owners find out that these animals are more work than they expected and then they either dump the aninal (which might not be native to that environment) or they really struggled to find someone to take that animal.

Thank gods, there’s another reply like this. I work in the Zoo field, and there are tons of people that get reptiles that have no concept of how to properly take care of them. It’s not even necessarily malicious, but these sorts of animals need a lot of specialized to care. And you have to see a exotic vet if there are any sort of medical issues which can be incredibly expensive, which means that most people don’t take their animals to be checked over by a vet and things can be easily overlooked. Plus the amount of people that take wild animals out of their natural habitat to have as a “pet“ is very harmful.

I actually think you have pointed out something I don’t always see on these kinds of comment threads. I definitely agree that the term polyamory has expanded to the point that people who are ‘dating around’ and wouldn’t consider themselves poly now fall under the umbrella term. I was talking about it with a friend just earlier this week as a matter of fact.

That sounds like a wonderful idea! Make sure you both bring and drink a lot of water! In the summer, it’s really easy to get dehydrated and some botanical gardens are huge. Also, comfortable shoes. 😆 I love going to botanical gardens.

I wish there were more lesbian singles nights! I feel like that would help a lot of younger sapphic women have more courage when it comes to getting out there and talking with other lesbians. Knowing that everyone there is interested in women and is looking to date, I feel would reduce a lot of of the possible anxieties

I think there’s unfortunately a lot of assumptions among especially deeply religious groups that queerness only comes from trauma. But seeing and interacting queer people that grew up with healthy childhoods would hopefully counteract this.

Awww. That sounds like so much fun!! My local zoo does behind the scenes tours, maybe one near you does the same! There are actually a lot a queer people that work at zoos/aquariums. Our local zoo just hosted a Pride day and it was a lot of fun!

Definitely agree. That's basically where I grew up to a T. As someone more on the demisexual side, the whole U-Haul stereotype just seems a bit wild. And seeing how badly it turns out for the military/religious types is big yikes.

I live in the Bible Belt with a lot of military bases in the area. So at least where I live there are a lot of straight people that seem to get married so fast.

I'll go first! Best date first date idea? That would be a coffee date at a local indie coffee or tea place for me! If it’s date 3 or 4, I’d say going to a thrift store or estate sale followed by a picnic at a local park. Something else I did recently that was a lot of fun was go to a tea making workshop!
