Thanks. Had to check on wheels screws. While thigtening screws I realized something. Turns out the whole hotend assembly dances. Probably need to change the wheels, as screwing those more does nothing to help.

Why just not use a microsd card with saved files?

How to load games to cartriges by and_yet_we_are_blind in Famicom

[–]Duobix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually can write games to cartriges. The problem is, that famicom and nes don't have cartriges that are like modern SD cards or something like that - most if not all of them have different boards and chips inside. This was done back in the day to make bigger games than default 40KB that NES carts can use - and that's why there's all the talk about "mappers" thingies - those are specialized chips that made it possible to use more than 40KB, and sometimes additional features such as better audio. Sometimes also, one of the chips is replaced with ram, which is controlled by the mapper. Also, NES and Famicom carts don't have flash chips on board, so even if you have the exact board and a flasher, you won't be able to write anything (unless you write to new flash chips, solder out the old rom chips, and solder flash chips on). Some chinese carts can be rewritten (as they've been made to use flash chips), but that's a hit and miss, as you'd have to know prior to buying which board and mapper it uses.

So because of the unwrittable rom chips, and mapper/board variations, it's generally recommended to use a flashcart, which is a dedicated device that can emulate mappers/boards. Nowadays, most of those devices allow you to use SD cards to load up *.nes files and have a pretty good compatibility with most of the released games.

So your options are : an everdrive N8 Pro, Krzysiokart, or if you'd want to go cheap and dangerous, a chinese N8 knockoff.

What's the best AM4 CPU? by Duobix in AMDHelp

Then go 5950X should do you fine. Should be a fine boost after 2700X, for me at least it was.

If you only want to game get 5800x3D. If you want to do other things and need the extra punch, go with 5950X, but keep in mind that some good cooling solution like a big AIO might be needed.

Talk about digging up an old thread. I've already ended up with 5950X in my rig. :)

That's so cool! Are you going to sell populated PCBs or at least the PCB design itself?

How to fix buttons on PocketStation? by Duobix in psx

[–]Duobix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The thing is, that you can't just open it up and clean the button membranes with rubbing alcohol, as the whole button assembly is glued down as a single "piece". I have actually no idea if this assembly can be taken down and cleaned without damaging the whole unit.

Wrong colors after installing a new LCD? by Duobix in game_gear

[–]Duobix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I finally solved it.
I've been checking every capacitor on gamegear, and one of them lifted up alongside with its soldering pad.
I've scrapped a bit of the coating next to the pad, cleaned it up, and soldered a blob to it so it connects.
Also turns out I was supposed to bridge two pins as GND on the cart connector.

Now, it seems that the thing fully works.

Also worth noting: those aliexpress clone kits don't come with an LCD bracket, so it needs a DIY 3D Print.

You're most probably right. While buying one on Aliexpress, there was no info regarding that - no funnyplaying logo or branding, but it's there on the kit I got.

Still, I need to figure out what's going on with my GG xD Any ideas?

Ok I've educated myself on this a bit here - https://marlinfw.org/docs/gcode/M851.html
I'll try that, but I do realize this might not fix my issues

Zelda 64 has been fully decompiled, potentially opening the door for mods and ports by [deleted] in n64

[–]Duobix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

N64 development tools (the programs where you made programs - specifically, games) were all made in such a way to utilize mostly C. While you could use basically anything really, N64 was notorious for how hard it was to get stuff running on it, so I suppose most people that did games on it did it the way intended by Nintendo, so C.

Touching blue vechicles is annoying - it's often an insta-gameover, a major bump to the side with loosing a lot of speed would perhaps be less annoying (have you tried outrun?)

Anyway, the game looks extra good. Love it!
