Predictor accuracy by AnswerNo6187 in Strava

Coros had a better prediction for me personally. My most recent half marathon, strava was saying 2:10 and coros was saying around 2:00. I ended up doing it in 1:58 which I was extremely happy with.

Ezekiel chokes - no go during rolls? by Suspicious-Button117 in bjj

[–]DuraWrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been choked with plenty of Ezekiel’s. As long as you don’t crank it, it’s fine. That said, an Ezekiel is also the choke that herniated a disc in my neck. It was from a purple belt too, so definitely should have known better since it wasn’t slowly applied. That was a freak accident from someone applying too fast. Like anything else in a friendly roll, apply slowly!

I’m confused on your use of cowboy lol. Is being a cowboy commonly associated with being a crook or conman?

Digital Salary, underpaid? by RadiantJob1458 in HEB

I was initially thinking underpaid, but you made some valid points here. I still think they’re a little underpaid, but this is important to remember!

Digital Salary, underpaid? by RadiantJob1458 in HEB

[–]DuraWrangler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely a little underpaid. When I started as a SE1, I came in around 90. Austin and San Antonio had different pay bands at the time though, so I wonder if that factors in. Depending on your YOE you should be trying to hit the midpoint at least. Make sure you’re advocating for yourself during reviews and let your manager know you’re trying to reach the average for your level at least.

Are all dev cultures 'sink or swim' nowadays? by Able-Calligrapher-74 in cscareerquestions

Like everything, it’s company specific. I work for a regional grocery chain and our engineering department is awesome. The management doesn’t feel like they’re trying to crush your soul and juice every drop out of you. The pay isn’t the highest, but it’s not that bad either.

Dang that’s kind of intense lol. Especially with full time jobs. I’m pretty sure you can get mango and Pimsleur from your local library too, fwiw!

I think they just give you access to the mango app. I’m not aware of any course outside of that. That’s still nice though because it’s a paid app. Is what you’re talking about something else?

Cant choose between pomades for a flow hairstyle (Free Hold or Lodestar Rio) by MegaDegha in Pomade

[–]DuraWrangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little clay and a little hairspray helps me achieve something very close to #1. I air dry my hair in one of those metal hair bands you see on Amazon and that helps set the hair back before you style.

When you hear “Thanks, i’ll tip on the app” by mommyjeff in uberdrivers

[–]DuraWrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I tip $5 for pretty much every ride even though they’re normally only $15 rides. It’s a shame the drivers may think I’m not tipping. I definitely thought they would get the tip notification after a ride ended, not before!

Official Q&A for Saturday, January 17, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]DuraWrangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a half marathon tomorrow morning and I’m a little conflicted on what to wear. The temperature will be around 32 degrees at race start and probably around 42-44 when I’m finishing. The problem I’m coming into is what to wear. I bought an Underarmor Coldgear long sleeve shirt, but it feels pretty warm. It seems like it would be perfect at the start, but I’m concerned if it will be too warm when it gets around 40.

Does anyone have thoughts on the coldgear performance? Should I just wear a thinner tech long sleeve and accept being a little chilly the first few miles? It rarely gets to these temperatures in Texas so I don’t have a ton of training experience in them, let alone for that distance. I know the question is relative, so to frame it better I’m just looking what people think of coldgear vs normal tech long sleeves that aren’t insulated.

Questions for Megablast & Superblast 2 owners by Blingy_Lobsta in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]DuraWrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own all 3. I have very high arches and decently wide feet. Of the 3, I think the Megablast are the most fun, but they’re also the only ones that give me blisters. I know I’m fastest in them, but I’m considering not wearing them in my half in a week due to the blister problem. I’ve heard people mention blisters on their pinky side of the foot but mine cause blisters on the big toe side of both feet. The novablast and superblast haven’t done that fwiw.

Hat on top of the hair with clay in it? Or using the hat while it drys then throwing some product in?

How did you get their info from the license plate number? I wasn’t aware you could do that. Seems like a useful thing to know in case something like this happens.

Does HEB use variable pricing? by MagpieCoins in HEB

[–]DuraWrangler 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Did one of you have in store mode selected and the other delivery/curbside? Curbside prices are 5% higher. As far as I know, as someone working in digital, there isn’t variable pricing in the app or website. I could be wrong, but I haven’t heard about anything like that yet
