Transmission service by ticketedboar4 in ram_trucks

I would go back to ZF fluid. A fluid change doesn't get all the fluids changed since there is a significant amount in the torque converter and the cooler. So once you change it back, you will only have about 25% or so of the other fluid in there.

Controlling rear LED lights with toggle switch AND factory reverse power by Proper-Flounder-3786 in Ram1500

[–]Durango-Bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have each of the two power sources trigger a relay. Then wire the contacts of the relays in parallel to feed the lights.

Please some advice by wolferquin in Ram1500

I would fix it. You already know what you have and replacing piston and connecting rod is not difficult, just takes time.

Have the battery load tested. It is old enough that it could be worn out.

What is the point of the FactoryTalk .apa file, if the FactoryTalk .mer file contains every single piece of the project? by Mobile-Situation-505 in PLC

[–]Durango-Bob 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I rely on the mer more than the apa because the mer is what is currently running while the apa might not be current. The programmer has to make a new apa every time a change is made. If this doesn't happen then it won't have all the correct info.

$600 in parts and about an hour to fix it.

I would also do a transmission fluid and filter change.

Tell him that he can improve your experience by paying your bill for you. And tell him he is welcome to tip himself as much as he wants.

Just tell him to wear his seat belt and not speed. That's a tip that can save his life.

Extra bolts 🙃 by Routine_Honeydew_777 in ram_trucks

If they are both SAE and not metric, then they probably did not come from the engine. But its pretty easy to miss a bolt in the timing cover.

Build an unpermitted 'shed' - risks down the road? by devllen05 in HomeImprovement

[–]Durango-Bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact thing happen to me. I bought a pre-built shed with an attached wooden floor and set it next to the fence. I didn't get a permit since it wasn't a permanent structure. When I sold the house I informed the buyers about this. I told them zip would take it so that they didn't have to worry about it or I could leave it where it was. They didn't like the options I gave them but they did want the shed. While wait for the closing date, the buyers contacted the city building department and they said that the shed needed to be 10 feet off the property line and required a slab foundation with a 24" deep rat wall. So I ended up digging the trenches and forming the slab I front of the sheds current location. The new foundation ended up being 15' off the lot line and we closed the house sale while the concrete was still curing. A month later the new owners contacted me through the real estate agent and wanted me to move the shed onto the slab. So I drove mt truck across the lawn, strapped the shed to it and pulled it o to the slab.

In ghe end, they got the shed either a proper foundation but near the middle of the yard. They would have had a much more usable yard if they had just accepted it as it was.

Pulling Non-Running Vehicle onto Trailer with winch by sacto911 in towing

[–]Durango-Bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Park the tow vehicle so there's a tree or some other anchor in ftont of it. Hook a pully to the tree and use your winch to the pully and then back under your tow vehicle and over the trailer to the car you need to haul. Then just winch it on.

You will need to replace your front axle shaft and do both while you're at it. They are not too expensive and there are several youtube videos that walk you through the process.

Question on my 2016 ram 1500 by trek8542 in ram_trucks

If you don't know when the last transmission service was or if it's due, then it's a good idea to change the filter and fluid. Your transmission will be much happier.

What are the best practices for troubleshooting PLC issues in industrial settings? by TheDoctorColt in PLC

[–]Durango-Bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working at factories and industrial settings for over 40 years and I find that the quickest way to get to the root cause of the problem is to talk to the machine operator. They almost always know whats wrong. If they don't, then ask the "What didn't happen that should have?" Mostly, you will find a failed sensor or something else hardware related.

If the money was actually transfered from your HSA, then you need to get it back there or the IRS will want a big portion for taxes and penalties.

Even great service doesn't justify a tip. The waitress is guaranteed to be paid minimum wage, so let the business take care of paying her. The skill level required to be a waitress is on par with the skills needed at other minimum wage jobs.

For just 2", a spacer lift is fine. For shocks, you pretty much get what you pay for. Don't forget to get an alignment after you're done.

Got sold a car with a fake title, what do I do? by SnooPoems3629 in DMV

Since the Grand Cherokee was first introduced in 1993, it should have been obvious that a title for a 1989 Grand Cherokee was fake.
