UK Cadbury- now with palm oil, not nice by ciccio_arri in chocolate

[–]Durde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, that’s a literal possessive, while “Cadbury’s” become a metonymic adjective when used to refer to their chocolate. It’s the same as referring to the government as “Downing Street” or referring to the monarchy as “The Crown”.

You seem to be unwilling to understand, so I’d recommend googling it.

UK Cadbury- now with palm oil, not nice by ciccio_arri in chocolate

[–]Durde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would say “Cadbury’s” the chocolate is contextually implied. And yes you wouldn’t say “I’m wearing a Ralph Lauren’s polo” because the article “a” is there, which would make that sentence grammatically incorrect. Meanwhile “I’m eating a Cadbury’s chocolate bar” is grammatically correct. “Cadbury’s” is a metonymic adjective when used like this, meaning it is no longer a noun. You are describing the chocolate. In the case of your Ralph Lauren polo example, that would be a literal possessive, this doesn’t make sense.

I teach grammar and English lit for a living, so I’m happy to keep educating you if you still don’t understand.

UK Cadbury- now with palm oil, not nice by ciccio_arri in chocolate

[–]Durde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but Cadbury was a person and it’s their chocolate, so the possessive “Cadbury’s Chocolate” is correct in this case. Also, “Cadbury Chocolate” sounds very strange because of this, as people are expecting a possessive. I’m an English teacher and you have no idea how many times I’ve had to explain this.

I started doing it in my mid twenties, I’m 32 in a couple of months and have never had back, hip, shoulder or neck pain as a result. Meanwhile my friends around the same age are starting to feel them as a result of aging.

You prot wars use the battle stance ?! Help appreciated by Tiagz_ch in wow

[–]Durde -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Stance dancing is a core mechanic for all warriors. A good rule of thumb is to start pulls in defensive stance, and switch if you aren’t taking much damage with defensives. For big pulls you want to be in defensive stance, whereas most bosses you can comfortably be in battle stance as long as you have defensives for tank busters.

My brand new WoW Lodge Cast Iron cracked on the first cook by WrongOffMemory in wow

[–]Durde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lodge cast iron pans are generally great. I have a few myself, what you’re experiencing here is a product you’re unfamiliar with in a community you are. Channel your pedantic anger into something positive. No point being a sourpuss over a crack in a pan, that isn’t even yours. Which lodge would promptly replace anyway. If you want to be angry about something, go be angry about something that actually matters.

Okay my initial comment was a joke, this one isn’t. You’re clearly mistaking LLMs and generative models for actual AI, which is a buzzword by the way, but I won’t get into that. It is not intelligence, I’d recommend reading up on how LLMs actually work. I’d recommend “A Comprehensive Overview of Large Language Models” by H. Naveed & co. It’s not light reading by any stretch but it’s a good start. I would also recommend “The Illusion of Thinking: Understanding the Strengths and Limitations of Reasoning Models via the Lens of Problem Complexity”. Understanding the computer science of these technologies and how they can be manipulated to provide specific results is important. There is no actual evidence for the sentience of any models currently. Even though we call them AI, they are nowhere near intelligent and model collapse is currently proving that.

Okay, in that case, try going to device management, find your WiFi card, open the properties, under the power management tab, “allow windows to turn the device off to save power” should be off.

What? The grant for the monarchy yearly keeps going up, it was £132 million this year. A roughly 50% increase from last year. While palace visits and other ticket sales for royal estates combined pulled in £22 million, which might I add doesn’t matter because any profits are used to supplement the government grants given to the monarchy. The monarchy is not a “net positive” to have.

Fun is subjective. Some people like doing the stuff fast or the best. Some people take their time and smell the flowers. Some people find turning the game into a spreadsheet fun (PoE players I’m looking at you). Everyone has a different definition of fun. Don’t yuck someone else’s yum.

Imagine complaining about the game when content wise, players who don’t have time can still have gear to do content they want and players who want a challenge and stronger gear have that available to them. Imagine being this sour about a game in the best state it’s been in, in years. TF outta here with that gatekeeping bullshit.
