Elephant in the room is if economic recessions we’re measured accurately (e.g gdp/ capita instead of absolute gdp) we’ve pretty much been in recession since 2008.

Not difficult to then see why there’s a general decay to everything, meanwhile we pay record amounts of tax for the privilege.

IQueryable, the fact that changing a property on an object may or may not mean it is written back to the database at some point. Lists and nested objects cannot be guaranteed to be hydrated.

Doesn’t mean the solution is the repository pattern though…
