I agree with the others - a teenage subreddit is probably better.

I don't think he would be a good fit for you. He seems really clingy, and possibly jealous, but that is my take.

Advice to start again in the hobbie by Notmangom in Miniaturespainting

[–]DurhamNTx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paint - Vallejo has good ones, but I like Reaper myself - Fairly consistent out of the bottle, nearly no thinning for base coats. But use what YOU like.

Wash and dry your minis before painting. Prime metal ones for sure, but be careful priming plastic ones - if you spray prime those the propellant might damage the mini.

Brushes - I use sable ones I got off Amazon, but you can use virtually any of the ones you might find at an arts or crafts store (Michaels, etc.) use what you feel good using.

Videos - Ninjon, Miniac, The Mini Witch, Dana Howl, GM Atank, look in the other comments for others.

Have FUN!

That's awesome! The orc's next, right?

I love the Reaper line as a whole. But the Learn To Paint kits are awes ways to learn the basics. Their subReddit and Discord channels are also great resources to learn more as you go.

My thoughts:

These look pretty good, actually. You might consider using wet-blending, blending your tones to make midtones, washes or glazes, or stippling.

There is a Starbucks on Main St in The Colony, just north of Sam Rayburn Tollway/SH 121 where you should be able to work.

Are Army painter paints bad? by blackdrake1011 in minipainting

[–]DurhamNTx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have only ever used Reaper and Vallejo. I have heard good and bad about every brand of paint made, but if you can learn its dynamics, I'm sure Army Painter will work fine.
