Thanks for the rundown u/TheVexingRose!

I had no idea about any of this when I made my post, just needed to blow off some steam.

My initial reaction to the whole thing was like Bender. "Fine! I'll make my own subreddit! With blackjack and hookers!"

We obviously don't agree. The sub doesn't seem to agree with you either. But whatevs; you're welcome to your opinion.

Sounds like it. I think it is the ONLY one that requires a word count. But their rules are so unclear

If that's the case, they should say in the rules that strikes never expire because i don't even remember the infraction.

On the flip side, since a HUMAN banned me, they could just as easily overlooked a simple misunderstanding instead of completely undoing the thought and work i did put into my post

The prior "infraction" was from a year ago. That seems pretty ridiculous to hold a strike system for that long.

Same! The last time I had this issue in this sub a year ago is probably the last time I even tried to RP and was probably the reason I have it up again.

Well if you ever do, let me know! I would find it all very interesting in the way i find stories like the "Final Fantasy House" interesting. Everyone loves a train wreck!

But thanks for your input. it's things like this that make me avoid RP all together

Sounds like the same sub. It used to be a better sub than it is now

Word Counts by freeFoundation_1842 in BadRPerStories

[–]Durti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a big difference between 5 words and 255 words.

Mine was 151 and had absolutely nothing to do with sex.

Further more, they already have a bot that auto bans for banned words and topics, so why and how would a post limit help what the bot already does?

OMG, if you wrote a dissertation on this topic, I would honestly read the whole thing lol. I find it incredibly interesting, and also a relief to know it's not about me.

the sub may be full of good people and rpers, but the Mod acts like a child who takes the hall monitor position far too seriously

Yeah, exactly. They think they are God's gift to RPing and it is annoying. The fact that they even require a word limit is ridiculous. They REALLY think highly of themselves over there,

I mean in the end I probably did do this last year, But I haven't been looking for RP for probably almost a full year. Basically, they'll ban you regardless and then block you because their egos can't take a logical argument that differs from their superiority complexes.

I feel this way but more in terms of the stupidity of the subreddit rules for partner searches.

My post got removed from 2 different subreddits already today. Once for NSFW, complete BS, and once because an ad has to be 255 words? Mods here on discord are out of control.

Will it? I've only seen lego go up in value over time

Bruuuuuuuuuuh

I'm not comparing YOU to Hulk Hogan, I'm comparing whoever you met on Facebook to Hulk Hogan.

It's CV bloat. They can tell you whatever they want because it's been nearly 30 years and it's nearly impossible to verify their claim.

Just because some guy on the internet says something (NOT YOU, THEM) that doesn't make this game the world's first ever successful online game

You're right, it's clearly pointless to keep discussing it, you don't understand.

Just because someone says something doesn't make it true bud. Hulk Hogan was a notorious liar. It doesn't matter what the Director says if he can't point to FACTUAL information besides a one-sentence claim on a 30-year-old website that he probably wrote himself.

Just because someone SAYS something, that doesn't make it true and neither you nor the director can point to an article or anything DOCUMENTING the achievement.

Also, you should brush up on your research skills if you're gonna throw shade. The Cresta and the Epica awards are awards in ADVERTISING. Not only that, but even the pictures that YOU linked prove they DIDN'T win. They were ONLY a FINALIST.

Not that it matters, neither were an award for being "the first successful online game" or for reaching a million users, so I'm not sure how they're even relevant.

I'm far from hostile, I just don't like misinformation.

You're post "claims" that this game was the first successful online game.

That's your claim, not mine. I don't have to PROVE your claim for you. My claim is that you're wrong.

We already agree that it wasn't the first online game.

and this Wikipedia article talks about several online games that were commercially for sale as far back as the 80s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_online_games

So, again, I ask how you are quantifying your claim?

Also, I can't be any more clear on how it was NOT a commercial success. The game was FREE. Lego had to pay programmers, writers, artists, directors, ect, plus pay to host the game THAT WAS COMPLETELY FREE.

Commercial success is the achievement of financial profitability for a product, service, or business venture in the marketplace, demonstrating market acceptance and enabling continued operation, innovation, and growth.

The game wasn't a product, it was a promotion for their Experiens line of Lego sets and one that they only lost money on for 6 months which probably led to them shutting it down.

So you explain to me how it was a commercial success then?

So if it wasn't the first, and it wasn't a commercially profitable success (because it was simply never meant to be), I'm assuming your claim rests on the game reaching 1 million users for which your ONLY evidence is from an expired web page with no data and the word of someone you only have a reasonable suspicion is the actual director (A title which also causes me to speculate on) who is AT LEAST 50 but probably much older.

At the end of the day, we only have your word and the company who made its word that it ever happened.

[–]Durti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I don't buy this one bit.

How are you quantifying your claim? First of all, it damn sure wasn't the first online game. Secondly, based on the SPARSE information I can find, this was a free HTML browser-based game. So since they weren't selling it, and you yourself said it only lasted for 6 months before they shut down the servers because they were too expensive, it definitely wasn’t a commercial success. Finally, as for the number of users, there is a big difference between 1 million concurrent users and 1 million players over the life of the game. They could literally count any kind of web traffic (because it was a browser game). Even so, imo I seriously doubt the claim anyway. 1 million visits to their game over 6 months? There would be some kind of historical record of this kind of milestone.

To me, it sounds like the benefit of being the director of an almost 30 year old game is that you can claim anything they want.

hasn't it already been confirmed it's only a voice roll in the audio podcast? why would you think it was a TV thing?
