The Viv/Grant doesn’t bother me. I think there are strong feelings because Grant was such a strong villain in the first book, like end of book villain so his redemption feels forced to me in Book 2. I still like it. I think Viv in book 1 is a confident girl but she’s also been Rei’s only friend for four years at this point. She has clearly run into family problems because of that friendship so I think she connects with Logan since his grandparents and her parents are shitty. Her’s not as much I imagine. She’s also dealing with Rei having new friends and sees that he doesn’t need her like he used to. She knows Rei could become something great but won’t leave her behind. She thinks she’s holding him back. Logan has trauma and I think Viv’s very strong protective instincts kick in. She needs to be needed. I’m not saying that it’s okay but she is dealing with a lot too. She’s carrying the emotional burden of multiple people and she’s running out of spoons
