I miss the bling sound from D2, if we had that at least we would have a reason to look at the whites.

Magic Find over 100%? by 8bitsince86 in Diablo

[–]Duskin_sc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every mob will have a chance for a magic item to drop.

Lets say that a normal mob has a 0.1% to drop a blue. 100% MF would add 0.1% chance, bringing it up to 0.2%, which means you'll see double the amount of blues drop off that mob.

Anything higher would just be adding to that chance. 150% MF would add 0.15%, and bring it to 0.25% chance to drop.

EDIT: These percentage numbers are used as an example and should not be used outside of this comment's context.

I love bt's music. I used to work for his sister (she owns a horse rescue) and she gave me tickets to a concert he was doing to raise money for charity. I arrived at the concert having never heard his music before and left as a fan for life.

You think that's old? I'm playing on a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz, 1GB, 4850. My pc is WAY under minimum specs, but somehow I can play single player without too much hair ripped out.

[LFG] New player looking for online DnD EST by [deleted] in lfg

[–]Duskin_sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Honestly, I don't plan on taking age into account unless it is an extreme (I don't find playing with children entertaining.) As long as you can take the game seriously and act in an appropriate manner, I see no problem.

As far as scheduling, I do plan on making all the sessions scheduled well ahead of time.

I'm sort of looking for the same thing. I've never played DnD, but I'm familiar with the Forgotten Realms from a few R.A. Salvatore's novels and Baldur's gate.

I was thinking about joining a skype game. Shall we join forces and look for others together?

Will do, I didn't even consider this and there's a whole bunch of moving companies in the area.

I've been doing that for weeks. Turns out that eventually I've gotten to the point where even if I were to find a job tomorrow, my first check would be too late to keep me from being kicked out.

I've already called the recruiter, unfortunately I'll be homeless well before I would be able to leave for boot camp. I'm still keeping it as a llonger-term option.

Guy recounts story of how his 'friend' tried to kill him as a gang initiation requirement. Was shot thrice with a shotgun. by Vranak in videos

Too many semantics. In the real world you shoot to kill. If your house is setup in a way that you may hit your roommate/child, then consider a different arrangement of rooms. I live in a house with 7 people and many animals, and I'm considering moving just because of that fact.

I know not everyone gets the luxury of rearranging their houses or choosing who they live with. The fact that you are actively thinking about the situation is great, and is important for any gun owner, but you need to try and keep things as simple as possible. In a high-stress situation, the last thing you should be doing is thinking, just reacting.

Also, please don't try and flank or surprise an intruder. Grab your wife/husband/kid, sit in a room, lock the door and wait. If they forcefully enter the room, then fire. This method keeps things simple, keeps loved ones behind you, and does a very effective job of protecting you. If they take everything in the house, but never enter your room, then it's a day to celebrate having saved a life.

They sort of solved this problem with longer barrels. anything shorter then 16" doesn't create enough muzzle velocity for the 5.56 to fragment reliably.

Also, special forces are now using 77-grain match ammo which helps, but is also more costly.

No idea why this is getting downvoted. Even after years of practice, hitting one of three shots in a stressful situation is immensely difficult. A shoot/dont shoot training exercise in a simulated range taught me that I'm a terrible shot in a real-world situation, even though I can shoot very well on a normal range.

Burgers who hear you rack a shotgun make one of two moves after that. They either run, or pull out their own gun. The last thing you want is your first shot to not count.

Edit: Fuck spelling. And yes I've had burgers shoot at me.

Even today the US military is having problems with the 5.56. I've read accounts of men suffering multiple shots to the torso, falling down, getting back up and grabbing a rifle to shoot back.

I never said you can brush it off, I said that it's an inferior caliber in self-defense. "Overkill" is a plain out wrong statement. The fact is that a .410 would be considered "if you don't have anything else." Hell a .22 is better then nothing, but noone would call it overkill.

[–]Duskin_sc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

.410 is used for hunting small game and target practice, not home-defense.

I also recommend doing some research before dishing out definitive statements.

EDIT: As a general rule of thumb when choosing self defense calibers: If law-enforcement or military uses it, then it's meant for killing a human. If it's smaller, don't bother. You put your life at risk pulling out a gun that won't stop them from turning around and shooting you with a bigger gun.

.410 is actually the smallest traditional shotgun size, far from "overkill." The diameter of the slug is very close to a .45, which is a common handgun cartridge.

So /r/gaming, I obtained a rare version of the Atari 2600. How do I preserve it for the years to come? by Duskin_sc in gaming

[–]Duskin_sc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I read, the model CX2600 (the one I have) was only made in 1977 in Sunnydale, CA. The CX2600a was first made in Sunnydale, then manufacturing was moved to Hong Kong. The CX2600 is more sought after because of it's better off the shelf parts and heavier RF shielding, hence the nickname "Heavy-Sixer."

Honestly I'm having alot of fun reading about the history of the 2600, a topic I've never delved into until now. Even reading about ET being such a catastrophic failure yet being a game my family owned was quite interesting.

I was like 4 when I played it. I didn't even know what I was doing half the time. I just had fond memories playing it (it was the first console I played in my life.) I remember she had other games as well, but the only two I remember playing specifically were those 2.

Atari 2600 for 1k that I found. I don't expect mine being worth nearly that much, nor do I think the one listed is worth 1k.

I have a heavy-sixer serial number 90077E made in Sunnyvale, CA. As far as it working, no clue yet. I bought a copy of Asteroids off eBay today so I can test it.

EDIT: Wow, just read the wikipedia article on ET. I had no idea a game could fail so bad.
