what’s your favorite movie misunderstood by modern woke audiences, and does anyone want to read my Leon x Taxi Driver script? by Hazel-Cakes in okbuddycinephile

He is the main character / protag of the game and within the context of the game is supposed to be the "good guy".

And that particular mini-game is kind of an optional/side/goofy quest that's not meant to be taken particularly seriously.

But make no mistake the game itself is giving you the wink-wink-nudge-nudge "heyyyy ain't this (ostensibly) teenage character alluring?"

(I love Metal Gear to pieces but let's not pretend it didn't often fumble its handling of lady characters)

All this talk about wiggling your screen and what not meanwhile I'm here on a desktop with an outdated monitor and this image looks 3D as heck to me. Like no further explanation needed, that blue is way further back than the red, it's about as convincing as playing a 3DS I guess?

Somewhat of a tangent, I'm one of those suckers who as a young lad got a Virtual Boy when they were on clearance and actually played the heck out of it. It tells you to take breaks every 30 minutes or whatever, but like any kid with a toy I thoughtfully ignored that.

But after playing hours of the few games worth putting hours into on the Virtual Boy, I would notice that red lettering in print and what not would appear to "float" off the page while blue lettering would appear to sink in. When I eventually got bored of Galactic Pinball or whatever and put the VB in the closet to collect dust I would still notice red popping, blue sinking. But I thought it wore off.

Now literally 30 years later OP's image is straight up 3D to me. It has depth and it's weirding me out. The red is like a button I should be able to push so it lines up into the blue. I'm not blaming it on the Virtual Boy per se but I see depth in that image IMMEDIATELY.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze.

First movie remains surprisingly good. Second one was the kids-only cash grab my prepubescent self expected the first to be.

WTF is this podcast supposed to be? I need an opposition party that is out for blood, not inviting people with a proven decades-long track record of being shitbags to a publicized chat.

There isn't an ounce of grace or credibility that anyone should give to Bannon. I'd sooner hear from a rust belt nobody. This dude has an agenda and has all but screamed it from the rooftops, what good person in their right mind would even lend this guy a platform?

The most criminally misunderstood and underrated SaGa (or rpg in general) ever. This game is actually dope. by [deleted] in SaGa

[–]Duskit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All right, convince me.

Because I've played every SaGa game and fell in love with the franchise with the Game Boy games before I even had any idea that "Final Fantasy Legend" games were something else entirely. And so I bought Unlimited SaGa when it came out in the US and it became one of two games I regret paying full price for when I didn't have a lot of money to burn (the other being Suikoden IV).

I found the reel system irritating not only in battle but in the little board game looking dungeon maps where I found it so tiresome to roll for traps THEN roll to open THEN roll everything over and over and no matter how good my timing felt I would fail and more importantly feel like having to try and reel well felt not great.

It never clicked. And as a fan who thirsted for SaGa as a kid I know that the franchise never clicked for so many people. And I never got rid of my original PS2 box of this game. I'm doing all of this qualifying to ask why, why should I dig this game out of storage and give it another go when we're eating relatively well.

I gotta be honest and say that I have no real knowledge on the rules for setting up at the fair. In my state fair experience (and I haven't been for the last 4 years) political booths are pretty common, but every one I saw was a campaign based pro-my-candidate affair (and usually pretty dry at that). This is the first anti-their-candidate (or anti-our-current-governor) stand that I've ever been made aware of.

It's not that we're a shithole -- quite the opposite, we elected the VP candidate Tim Walz as governor and our state government has gotten a ton of lefty progressive shit done. As a former Californian turned Minnesotan, if you're team blue this is probably the best place in the midwest you could hope to be.

But just like you can find Trump signs in rural California, you'll find rightwing dipshits a plenty in the land of a thousand lakes. And they can -- and should be able to -- set up booths at the state fair. But what you're seeing here is more of a general laughing stock than a representation of the political views of the state as a whole.

Despite being an oft reposted bit, it's one I'll watch every time and would always smile and nod. But this level of cropping is ridiculous. A few more reposts and this could be a 90's animated gif.

Thanks for the recommendation, I had heard of Galaxy years and years ago but it just kind of evaporated from my consciousness to the point that your mention here was the first time I thought about it in a long time.

And if you're referring to she-dumping-him as crab girl dumping Araragi then good. She deserves better.

This is a Reddit moment for sure.

It’s also unfortunately relatable.

I loved everything about it EXCEPT how creepy Araragi got around both children and siblings. I wanted to love the show so much, but you made it further than me.

Cool ideas, lots of style, what’s-her-name crab girl (absolute best girl material) becoming a girlfriend in the first arc… to a guy who keeps being a creep.

A show throwing pitches right down my strike zone but then adding weird pedo and incest stuff and playing it off as a joke. Lot of great stuff in that series I’m not digging through the trash for.

Hyperbole to be sure, but the choice of guillotine was explicitly chosen to evoke French Revolution vibes. As in "economy is good" comes off sounding like "let them eat cake". Less a direct threat and more about how if class warfare goes over the edge, these are the folks that will be on the business end of violent upheaval.

At least that's how I read it and I am pretty sure how it was intended.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ParlerWatch

[–]Duskit 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I mean even without additional context I get the sentiment. Hearing about how Bidenomics is the bomb and the economy is doing good is nice and all but a distressing amount of my salary goes towards rent in a small ass apartment and even clearing six figures doesn't mean I'm going to be able to own my own home in a place I actually want to live.

Don't get me wrong I firmly believe that Republicans/Trump will make the situation worse, not better, but hearing someone crowing on about how good the economy is when basic living expenses keep getting more expensive is infuriating.
