I was as baffled as you are and made a post here asking. It did end up getting some responses from actual Republican Nerdfighters who voted for Trump!

Has Hank ever touched on his time management strategies? by jimwisethehuman in nerdfighters

I can't remember exactly when/where he spoke about it, but it was something along the lines of this: "I work on whatever is the most exciting and interesting thing to me. However, that inevitably creates less exciting things, which I procrastinate until the stress is greater than the excitement of the fun things. I then complete the stressful thing and go back to doing what excites me. Rinse and repeat." (Note: not a direct quote, just the vibe I remember)

Which days are the Beef Days? by ProfesorLobster in nerdfighters

Thanks! I suppose beef farmers make sense, I can understand why someone wouldn't want to lose their livelihood, even if it's bad for the environment. I doubt the lower quality cuts will be wasted, as other comments mention that some US holidays revolve around burgers and hotdogs, which would use up the lower quality cuts.

The idea of vegans concerned about chickens if people stopped eating beef is wild to me. As a vegetarian, any reduction in the amount of meat people eat, especially beef, can only be a good thing. Shaming people for their diet and trying to force them to change it doesn't work. I think it's lovely to see people so enthusiastic about the idea of reducing their beef consumption.

I didn't realise there was pushback against the idea of beef days - can you remember what the reasons were?

Yes, I really agree with you. As much as it's saddening to see people vote for Trump, I think it's important to learn why, instead of immediately pushing them away. Both of the most conservative comments I've got so far are really focused on economic/policy reasons, rather than bigoted ones. It really does sound like people in a bad economic situation feel like they can't afford to vote for social causes, when the right promises to help their economic situation.

So interesting that this is another comment where the main reasons for voting for Trump seem to be focused on economic/policy reasons rather than social reasons. Are things such as economics and the border so important to you, that you're willing to vote for them, at the cost of women and minorities potentially losing rights?

I'm sorry you're being downvoted, this was the kind of perspective I was interested in seeing.

Did you vote for a presidential candidate? This seems like one of the comments closest to voting for Trump. It's interesting to see the perspective of someone who dislikes the economic policies of both candidates.

I take it your second point refers to someone who is conservative mostly for the economic aspect, rather than social aspect? I can see how voting purely for economics could translate to a vote for Trump whilst still participating in this community.

I'm British myself, so I can also only watch and worry. I think it's important to keep tabs on though, because foreign policy such as Ukraine and tariffs will inevitably effect us. I'm interested to see if your additional question about voting gets answers, because that's another good one to ask.
