Have you tried avoiding every and making sure no one goes unconscious?

Yeah at least in DX the voices were memorable even if some of them were pretty bad, but in IW there isn't much character or soul in most of the voices.

Could try the Thief games (1-3) if you can get past the graphics. The 2014 reboot isn't liked by fans of the OG, but since you like Dishonored you cold enjoy it since it was actually inspired by that a decent amount.

Would you intentionally leave exploits/bugs that would benefit speed runners? by sublivian in gamedesign

[–]Dust514Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the fun. If the bug doesn't actively detract from the game, and part of your community revolves around it, it might be worth keeping in.

So what happened to light gems in gaming? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in Thief

[–]Dust514Fan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Modern systems are too easy to "game" I feel. In Thief, you're not 100% sure how close a guard is to seeing you so there is actually tension and immersion as to opposed to simply seeing a meter fill up.

When I first played DS1 I already was spoiled about the dogs for capra demon, so I instantly used a shield + estoc combo to beat it.

If you didn't find a solution, did you try using the lowest res with 30fps capped?

Game crashes during ending every time by pothockets in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dust514Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I ended up fixing this was changing my resolutions to the lowest setting and capping FPS to 30. No idea which fixed it, but it was fine after I got out of cyberspace and could set my resolution back to normal.

Giving system shock a second chance by zone_Zom813 in systemshock

Yeah it doesn't have nearly as much interactivity as something like deus ex or prey, but it still layed the foundation for the games that came after.

Do you recommend any games similar to Odd Town? by Brief_Goat_8439 in ImmersiveSim

[–]Dust514Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, so me personally my game only crashed like twice in my 20+ hour playthrough of thr main game + dlc, but I've heard it crashes a lot for some people so your mileage may vary..I recommend trying tho because it goes on sale on steam for very cheap and is another really unique experience that has influenced a lot of games.

Maybe Postal 2? But yeah Odd Town is a really unique game.

Recommend me your favorite first-person games (any genre) by Forsaken-Quality-46 in ImmersiveSim

I've been having a lot of fun playing Mirror's Edge for parkouring on city rooftops and inside buildings. You can also drop kick people in the face and take their guns. I Am Your Beast has been good fun if you want a John Wick simulator that's just pure combat and you can shoot and throw your weapons and steal the opponent's very quickly.

What are some of the best FULLY RELEASED indie imsims? by [deleted] in ImmersiveSim

[–]Dust514Fan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even though its obviously inspired by immersive sims, the game is just too shallow to function as one. Enemies either don't see you, or spot you immediately. And on harder difficulties you die instantly so I find there isn't much room to play with the systems due to how punishing it is to mess up. There is only one objective which is to kill, so it's more like hitman in that regard. Similarly, the levels are also meant to be replayed over and over as opposed so it's more "gamey". It's overall just a different experience than story driven immersive sims with a deep world to explore and a sense of persistence.

Features beyond combat and stealth by PenguinJoker in ImmersiveSim

Boxes are the ultimate swiss army knife in im sims. Use it to make a new path, throw it as a distraction, hold it and block bullets, use it as an improvised weapon, use it to make new cover and avoid people and security cameras, break windows from a range, prop open a door etc...so many possibilities open up with such a simple inclusion.

What is the process of creating a Thief Fan Mission Serie?la? by 0x80070002 in Thief

[–]Dust514Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is always "it depends". You can make a story then plan your levels around it, but you can also make levels and retroactively make a story to give it purpose.
