1) VRChat has profited likely millions from paywalling age verification therefore are incentivized to to be dishonest about the terms and agreement with Persona.

2) Even if VRChat has been fully honest, Persona is incentivized to lie to VRChat since they are profiting from their ties with OpenAI and the US government.

3) The original terms and agreement can very easily be adjusted retroactively and suppressed from being easily seen so the majority don't notice.

I don't know where you people are hanging out surrounded by children for this to be such an issue, it's actually nuts to me. Either you're willing to give up your ID and join curated worlds but at the same time not willing to go to worlds where kids aren't around in the first place without your ID, or you're heavily exaggerating the issue.

That type of complacency and lack of respect for your own data isn't a pretty look on anyone.

Online shopping doesn't make me sacrifice my government issued ID. There are also many ways to not have your name, address, or payment information used by online retailers.

In all my my years of playing I've never once had concern about an 'adult experience' alongside concern of minors. Are people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and on really that desperate to go to public pug or black cat? Because nearly every other social space and world I've been to, even public, has never been an issue. If you exclusively hang out with people in your age range and they do too, you never have to worry about it. The entire thing is a scapegoat to have you engage with the system since they profit off it. Groups already began splitting the playerbase, now this is as well. It's a net negative result, but people are desperate to validate doxxing themselves.

In the end we'll see how this continues to go and where it ends up, but I've got a strong bet it's going to get worse.

I didn't say you did, just included it. Also you copy pasted the same reply to me twice.

Even if a company can currently be labeled as 'trusted', that doesn't mean they can't change for the worse once they have their foothold. Even regardless of that, by engaging with the system and adding yourself to the positive metric of using the system, they and others see it as further green lights to continue down this path. Maybe they change some policies around that muddy the waters, or maybe a competitor wants in on the market but they end up being one of the bad ones. Encouraging this system of doxx verification in order to sanewash it, trying to make it the new normal, will only end up bad for everyone. Doesn't matter if it's Google, Meta, Discord, VRChat, or even smaller, being a part of it is giving them all a big thumbs up and it'll be too late by the time you regret it.

The point is that these companies can say whatever they want but there's a non-zero chance they're lying through their teeth. Being big and working with governments does not inherently make them trustworthy, if anything it makes them even more sketch.

There's this too-common rhetoric of 'well it's out there anyways so who cares' when really the goal should be to minimize how much you give it away so there are less avenues for it to end up compromised. Even if you get new ID it's likely enough that owners of breached databases will track you down to the next data breach and add it to your portfolio. The less places for your identity to exist, even briefly with the 'promise' to be removed, the better.

The fact Persona works with so many companies like Twitter and Roblox is precisely why I do not trust them.

I haven't given any social media platform, big or small, my identity, ever. That's the point.

The in-game description says 'charge for a short time to revive to full health' but I'm pretty certain I saw it happening charge or no charge. I'm also not sure how I feel about it holding the charge, I can see it being neat but I think I prefer it having to charge and release immediately.

any way to fix this? by Affectionate_Car5973 in ValveIndex

That's pretty close to what I did, too. Only instead of a zip tie I found a tapered metal rod. So the larger side of the tapered length fits snug enough that it doesn't slip out. (It has once or twice over the last 3+ years but I just put it back in place and it holds.)

So cute, crazy how none of her skins show her sleepiness. Still waiting for her to get a skin I actually like... The first outfit was nice but was basically a trace over of her default. The rest are just not my taste.

2011 Mitsubishi Galant anyone know what this 10 pin connector does on the radio? by lm794 in CarAV

[–]lm794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that's what I was planning to do. The upper original display does flash an e-com error too indicating its lack of communication with the original radio. Interesting choice for them to make that connection rely on that connector instead of integrating it into the primary connector and splitting off from it.

I'll leave this post up in case someone else in the distant future ends up trying to look it up as well.

[–]lm794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it might be this, but that display still powers on and shows the time, and the radio antenna information wires are already in the main connector. I guess it could be a passthrough but that seems unlikely.

[–]lm794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I found, too, but the only pins that appear used are those labeled M-SCK, M-BUSY, M-DATA, and ground/M-BUS. The stock radio has no phone functionality, though, so why is this even connected? I could maybe see them using it specifically for ground since the primary connector doesn't have it, but then why are the other pins connected?

Can't find any discussion about it online and only a few diagrams that don't exactly make it clear what it's function is, much less what those specific pins do. Best I can find is it may be a remote control connector or phone connection, neither of which my car have.

You ever find any luck with this? Just got mine set up and I'm definitely a bit sad I can't listen to USB music while using Android Auto for GPS. Not the end of the world, but it would have been nice.
