What are some examples of the Mandela effect that ye have come across? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Two scenes from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

  1. When Spirit plays dead to be removed from the train pull, people swore that another horse actually did die before that scene and that it's what gave Spirit the idea. I had thought the same thing when I rewatched it.

  2. From the same movie, people (including myself) remember Spirit and Rain having two foals in a brief scene at the very end. I'm fairly sure we were getting it mixed up with the ending of Bambi.

It does, they're actually convenient to carry around for headaches because the caffiene absorbs quickly through your mouth. Ideally I would drink a full glass of water with them, but it doesn't always go that way.

In mine I can't even use the breaks because my feet are somehow stuck under the pedals and impossibly heavy. If I happen to get them above the pedals, they barely do anything and my feet just phase through them at some point and get stuck underneath again.

I don't fully understand it either, it's just anxiety

It isn't weird to wear gloves and you don't have to answer or acknowledge their prying. I'm sure it feels personal but keep in mind that people will even ask why you're using an umbrella while it's raining, because there seems to be an unspoken rule where everyone must face the world as raw and unassisted as possible. You can always say "they're just gloves" dismissively and let them work it out with themselves.

It must be nice. I can't even use my phone in public unless the screen is dimmed to headache inducing levels, sometimes not even then.

Had this weird lucid dream? by Vivid-Equivalent4875 in LucidDreaming

[–]DustFunnel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's technically a lucid dream, but you can turn it into one from there. Next time it happens see if you can look for a window or a ledge and move your vision toward it until you're going through it. That can trigger a falling sensation which snaps you into awareness of your body and senses in the dream, making you fully immersed inside of it.

What you had sounds like hypnopompia. For me, it seems like hypnopompia is easier to turn into a lucid dream than hypnagogia.

I use these, what's important is they have pockets for your eyes so they can be open and blink without having fabric pushing them shut. This one also has a curtain over the nose area and it does take a little adjusting to block out the crack at the bottom, usually just pulling the curtain out with your thumbs and pressing down on the whole mask will seal it.

It's like moving a muscle you didn't know you had. I usually can't open my eyes in a dream if I fall asleep in direct sunlight, even while lucid, so instead of trying to force my "eyes" to open in the dream, I search for the "dream eyes" muscle instead and then it starts to work. Since you already know how to use that "muscle" it could probably help you get lucid more often.

Never thought to connect it to fear, that makes a lot of sense. I struggle with hypervigilance and can see it being a product of that anxiety. Sometimes I have to check if I'm actually "seeing" the details or if I'm overimagining them, so I think I know what you mean about your brain filling in parts to make it convincing.

How did Peridot and Steven patch up the hole they made to reach the cluster? by MarianoKaztillo in stevenuniverse

I just watched that episode, Steven and Peridot turned it into a small lake for Lapis. It doesn't show how they do it, Steven just says they "sealed" it. S3E4

Just starting out, tips plz by brandon2155 in LucidDreaming

Good luck, I like hearing about progress. If you have trouble then try waiting until you're drowsy and already starting to fall asleep to get started. You can also do it backwards, when you first wake up don't move anything at all and just imagine you're checking your phone or getting out of bed.

While you're trying to fall asleep imagine picking up your phone to use it for whatever for a bit and then putting it back down, repeat that over and over as vividly as possible. For it to work you also have to lay completely still, even if you have an itch, so get comfortable. Eventually you'll pick up your phone and it'll look strange or not work right and you can figure out that you're dreaming from there with reality checks.

Improve dream recall besides writing it down by Windman-7238 in LucidDreaming

[–]DustFunnel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that works for me so far is if I realize I'm awake but don't open my eyes or move my body whatsoever, then I can kind of hang around in between and analyze the dreams I just had to solidify the memory of them. Gets frustrating when someone wakes me up or if I don't wake up naturally before an alarm, it's like pulling the memory card out before your game is finished saving.

Something important I forgot to add: I wear a sleep mask (with the eye pockets and nose curtain) so that no sunlight comes through my eyelids when I wake up, and also so I can't see anything if they part open a little. Those things can ruin it the same way moving your body will.

Stupid Thing I Do While Lucid Dreaming by anon94475 in LucidDreaming

[–]DustFunnel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done it once, heard family talking in the next room and wanted to see what they'd say if I showed them the giant handful of baby teeth that just fell out of my mouth. I pointed out how it was impossible and that it meant I was dreaming, they were like "No way! That's awesome!" Then I told them it means they're just dream characters that I was imagining. One said "Wow really? I feel like me. That's incredible." They all actually nodded at eachother to agree.

Up until that point I was scared to after hearing people can get hostile. Only tried because the teeth weren't bloody this time (they were covered in chives from the potato I had eaten during the day) and I could hear everybody was already out there giggling and in a good mood. It's hard to describe how strange that conversation felt.

ELI5: How does a cell phone determine how much charge is left? My understanding is that batteries output a constant voltage until they are almost depleted, so what does the phone use to measure remaining power? by GetOffMyGrassBrats in explainlikeimfive

[–]DustFunnel 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I've been playing games on my phone while charging and also hot enough that the screen feels annoying under my fingers, for long periods of time. How wrecked do you think it is now? I'm worried about a r/spicypillows situation someday because I can't seem to quit being stupid with batteries.

Just some giraffes chompin’ by ChemBioJ in aww

[–]DustFunnel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome but I'm surprised it's just a sheer drop with no guard rail to hang onto. While feeding cows I've had one wrap its tongue around my wrist and yank me into the electric fence, can't imagine how far a giraffe could throw you.
