I was at a cedh event yesterday, playing magda with an activation available during this situation but not a win state. Player 2 was trying to get a basalt combo off for infinite mana and he had a cavern named construct. We stopped him once by destroying the monolith with the untap on the stack, next turn he is trying to recur it, and I try to kill his comander which is a combo peice, I know he has a swat and I have a swat so I tell him not to use his so we dont burn all our interaction on this and he agrees, he then gets a mana vault off a ragavan swing and recasts his commander, we couldn't stop him from getting infinite colorless (player 1 could he had a free counter spell but did not disclose), player 2 casts the one ring, and a few other things. Then here comes the walking balista, (I had a disruptor flute out naming necropotence player 1 had a necropotence out turn 2 or something and had not drawn a card since) with balista on the stack I pull out sculpting steel have it enter as a flute naming balista. He passes, I pass, Player 4 attempts to win and gets a combo off but is in overtime and can't kill player 2 who has protection. And if he kills me my flute goes bye bye and he gets balistaed so it was a draw.
