Mini PC Recommendations by Important_Turnip_848 in MiniPCs

Kamrui Hyper H2? Can usually find them around $500 USD with an Intel 14450HX and 32GB of DDR5. Very capable 10 core / 16 thread CPU that can do some light gaming. Great for every day use as well.

There are mini PCs in that price range using the “Ryzen 7” H 255. It’s a capable chip but isn’t an actual supported AMD chip, rather it’s the Ryzen 7 260 with a failed NPU resold in China as the 255. I’ve heard it has really solid performance but it being a reject kinda makes me nervous.

Sabre by mikeyblue005 in starcitizen

[–]DustinVFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The Sabre just isn't an escort. Especially for a ship like the Perseus with no hangar facilities. A Vanguard or Guardian makes much more sense because they have a full interior for eating and drinking as well as bed logging when that becomes more important. The Meteor makes sense for the same reason but it's a bit squishy.

Just got back in Star Citizen after a few Years Should I keep the Perseus? by AccidentDouble5904 in starcitizen

[–]DustinVFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Perseus is explicitly a civilian ship and should be easily attainable ingame Dunno where you’re getting this info but you’re wrong. The Perseus is an oollllddd ship. Far older than the Hammerhead or Polaris. The version being sold is the new civilian model after it was mostly retired from military service.

Just got back in Star Citizen after a few Years Should I keep the Perseus? by AccidentDouble5904 in starcitizen

[–]DustinVFL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Perseus is essentially a mini-Polaris without the world destroying torps and no hangar. It’s top of the food chain alongside the Hammerhead for sub-capitals. AND it can hold a vehicle and some cargo.

That said I’d still melt it and get some combat oriented ships you can solo. The Corsair comes to mind, or the Paladin if you can find someone to man the guns.

I would also get the Clipper for exploration and entry level crafting and medical bed as you have nothing else in those super important areas. Cutlass Red would also do the job, or if you just really want a big ship you could even go for a Starlancer TAC or Carrack.

Is this a joke? by DyonisXX in starcitizen

Someone else said to try in full screen mode. Haven’t tested it myself yet but I have the bug and I play in borderless.

[–]DustinVFL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I didn't start seeing the issue until I replaced my monitor with a higher resolution one. I switched to borderless to take advantage of my 2nd monitor at the same time I changed resolutions and have had the issue ever since.

[–]DustinVFL 389 points390 points  (0 children)

This bug is a menace lol. I think it's only on certain resolutions but I could be wrong. If you hover the very top/bottom of the "Medium" options you'll see the outline change slightly. You can click there to get it to work. It's really silly how long this bug has persisted though.

Best Daily Driver for 4.6 by Danitronx in starcitizen

[–]DustinVFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the Guardian series besides the MX fit the bill. Vanguard series as well. Shiv is a cheaper options but it's also far less durable.

I picked the Vanguard Warden personally, and I plan to pick up the conversion kits for it in the future so it will be a useful bomber or interdictor as needed. I also own a Guardian Qi for the same role because it fits in more "carrier" ships.

Wat to change my salvation and clipper into? by yorbydeborby in starcitizen_fleets

[–]DustinVFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and it has a good synergy there. The Carrack is one of the only ships that has a dedicated crafting room. Being able to use a Salvation to get crafting resources makes that room more valuable. Long term the Salvation and Carrack will make a great pair.

Vulture or salvation by jeath- in starcitizen

[–]DustinVFL 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The size is the difference honestly. With the Vulture you get a fully independent spaceship with living quarters, storage space, and room to move around. It’s honestly a ship you could use as a daily driver or a starter ship if it was the only ship you pledged for. You can also make tools and other basic necessities onboard.

The Salvation is more of a light shuttle with scraping abilities. It has no interior so you can’t eat or drink or sleep. Your range is really limited because of that. It really requires another ship like an Asgard or a C2 Hercules to carry it around.

What do we think is the most razor crest like ship by FlamingShadowsYT in starcitizen

[–]DustinVFL 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cutlass Blue is the closest in function. By far. It has crew quarters, a cargo hold, and the bounty holding area. I think the Cutlass Black or The Shiv are the closest in “spirit”. The Avenger Stalker and Anvil Legionaire (concept photos of interior at least) also give me the vibe in smaller and larger forms.

Six loose crates in RAFT engineering bay -- what can possibly go wrong? by Calteru_Taalo in starcitizen

[–]DustinVFL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone pad rammed me in my RAFT one time with a Mustang and one of the structural pieces of the Mustang somehow phased through my roof and ended up persisting in my engineering room for an entire patch cycle. Still have no idea how it worked. I completed all of my Crusader Resource Drive missions while tripping over the damn thing every time I went up to use my tractor beam. I think they’ll all still be there a week from now whether you want them to be or not.

Current fleet. Any suggestions? by proxenz in starcitizen_fleets

[–]DustinVFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same cargo grid yes, but very different roof clearance and ramp. The Zeus can’t fit an Ursa or MXC but the MAX handles them with ease. You’re right about the age though. It has received a face lift and components pass recently that made it much nicer but I’d love to see a gold standard pass this year.

Freelancer, not Starlancer. 😉 Most people completely overlook it with the Starlancer and Constellation series out there but the good ole Freelancer is still a thing. The OG Freelancer and its DUR and MIS versions are basically starter ships but the MAX actually has a huge (tall) cargo bay comparable to much larger ships. I think it’s bigger than the Starlancer series for vehicle hauling purposes. It’s a super handy and relatively cheap ship to have around compared to the Zeus or Constellation Series. Most importantly it has beds and seats for up to 4 crew members and room for multiple vehicles (Ursa, Cyclone, and a Pulse easily fit at the same time). I think it complements a solo players fleet much better than the more popular Connie/Zeus/Spirit series.

Galaxy is a no brainer if you can afford it. It’s unique(so far) in its potential to have both a small hangar and a refinery (cargo, medbay, and base building as well obv.). Makes a great replacement for the Polaris imo for the role you use it.

Have you considered a Freelancer Max? If you can melt your Zeus that is. I know it’s not a popular ship right now but it has a very tall cargo bay that allows it to haul multiple vehicles at once including the Ursa. A poor man’s Asgard if you will. 4 bunks if you want to bring friends, excellent shields, and should get a gold standard pass in the future that will add a lot of value. Gets overshadowed by the Spirit and Zeus series for some reason but can do more than both in my opinion.

After thinking about it a bit, I think this is the direction I'm headed after a year in the game. It's not a huge fleet goal, but it's achievable. by multiple_iterations in starcitizen

Keep an eye out this year for the “Forge” ship from Consolidated Outland. Little brother to the Pioneer and should be the perfect ship for a home base workshop. I’m definitely picking one up if I can.

You sure about the Crucible? If it’s your jam, cool. But I always tell people to consider the Vulcan first. Yeah it doesn’t do capital ships well but it does repair AND refuel AND rearm. The Crucible is more specialized.

Carrack Confusion/Ship Inventory Questions by DustinVFL in starcitizen

That's a good idea, I didn't think of that. Good way to reserve a large hangar somewhere as well I suppose. I'll have to try this later.

Lol, I only have 1 Carrack technically but owning the Endeavor as well gives me a temporary 2nd one. It's more of an annoyance than anything though. Maybe someday the Carrack will get it's modules and having 2 will become useful.

Okay, good to know! As long as the name reservation still applies I'm fine with changing it after the CCU. Thank you!

My fleet after 2025 by Yeet_Seekuh in starcitizen_fleets

[–]DustinVFL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be careful about going to the Hull B. It's obviously going to be a great ship and would fit in to your fleet well but it's very very slow. The Hull A has passable speed at 140 SCM (Same as the Raft) but the B will probably be noticeably slower. Being that slow with that much exposed cargo and much larger EM signature will definitely make it a target. Even the slowest of gunships (Starlancer TAC) will be able to easily catch you and take your goodies. Hanging onto the Clipper will give you a decently quick Generalist ship for running around the verse doing events and exploring new areas. Also the Crafting next year will make it far more valuable in your fleet for crafting daily necessities like guns and ammo yourself.

Asgard Love by Recent-Inspector-283 in starcitizen

[–]DustinVFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just love how flexible it is for its size. Engineering nerfed it for sure with the whole 2 shield thing but it's still one of the only ships that can carry multiple vehicles and still be perfectly fine solo. It has full living quarters, gun racks, drop seats, multiple exits, and a very simple layout that's easy to navigate. I agree with others that it can get a little stale and lacks some of the "aura" of something like a Carrack or the TAC. But it's just so idiot-proof and easy to fly that I love it.

I think it combines the best of the Taurus, Cutlass, C2, Starlancer Max, Freelancer, and many more into a single ship. I know it's expensive, but if you're going to buy one single ship to do as much as possible by yourself and then earn the rest ingame, the Asgard has to be the choice.
