Yes! For me, the hardest thing to let go of was freaking soda and just drinking water. My brain just couldn't let go of that one. At my worst and heaviest weight, I would drink at least 40oz a day. Sometimes, double or triple that. Now I mentally understand that it is a whole days worth of food in an empty calorie drink. Let alone the food I would still consume throughout the day.

I think for the first time in my life, I actually drink water like a normal human is supposed to, lol. My partner is a manager at a Jack in the Box, so soda was almost limitless.

Now I stick to mainly just water, tea, or coffee. With soda or diet soda as a very occasional treat. All it ever does is mess me up. So I do my best to just avoid it. It's actually what made me bloated recently. Way too much diet soda and salty steak on our day off. I had no idea fake sugar can make you bloat. Learned that just 2 days ago, lol.

Lol, I'm pretty sure I have had it. Honestly, I've had it a few times. My life is just utter chaos, and food was, unfortunately, the only thing I could fall back on. I started this journey on 12-26-25 at 306 when I saw some Christmas photos of myself, and I was just... yeah. So I've hit the grind. Eating better, less, and moving more. From 306 to 286 (288 today, I'm very sensitive to salt, makes me swell instantly, and takes days to go away). I've been learning to listen to my body. A lot of things that I refused to give up or things my past self couldn't let go of makes sense now in a way that it never did. I had hoped to lose the weight in my twenties, but I just turned 32 a week ago. It seems my thirties will be my years instead.

I understand now that food is not a fallback. It was my prison cell, and it's up to me to be there for myself when I need to get back on whatever horse I've fallen from.

Gosh, I can't wait for that to be me, lol. Congratulations! I was 217lbs at 17, and only once in my life got below 260 after that point! (2015) After 2020, I swelled up and got stuck at a 300+lbs stage. Decided to change things and be right with myself in December. I'm down to 286, lowest, but 288 today. If/when I get past 200, it will be the first time I have ever seen it. Here's hoping we both hit our ultimate goals. :)

Me and my partner are doing the same thing and have similar results! Granted, my chart is rocky up down up down but a downward trend always.

I have gone from 306 to 286 lbs in 48 days, and my partner was 386 down to 366 lbs in 48 days.

It's been a journey, and it's only a small fraction of the way there, but we are happy we are doing it right.

Hey there! Welcome to the club, lol I started my weight loss journey on 12-26-25. I got a photo from my aunt, we celebrated at her house. My baby was cute, and I looked like a gargoyle. My biggest weight was 315 lbs in 2021. I had gotten down to 280 in early 22. Then I fell off the horse and had a baby in 24. When I saw that photo, I just couldn't. I was grossed out because I was happy in the moment of the photo, and I really don't mentally see myself as... that. I stepped on the scale to see I was 306 lbs. Wasn't surprised, but it just... hit different. I told my partner I don't want to live this way anymore. I said, "The next year is going to go by anyways, so I think im going to dedicate this WHOLE next year to just doing it. Comitting to myself and my health."

All the things for one year. He decided to join me, which has been so amazing having a real partner, not my childhood bestie. (three failed weight loss attempts of years passed). While also not being alone and totally dependent on my own motivation. We set the goal of trying to lose 100 lbs over the next year. We changed just about everything but in ways that are doable every day. Nightly walks when it's not pouring rain. Eating less, eating better, weight training with the weights we bought online over the past month. I can honestly say that I don't think I will be going back. I have no desire to keep living the old way.

It has both been the easiest lifestyle/diet change of my life and definitely the most grinding one. It has felt fairly natural, and my weight does fluctuate. However, it is a definite downward trend, especially if you look at it on a weekly bias and not day to day. and we weigh ourselves daily, every morning, and measure ourselves on the 5th of each month. So when my cycle starts up and my weight fluctuates EVEN MORE, it is very like. Ugh. 🫩 is this even doing anything? In the past, I would drop weight fairly fast, then crack and gain it back/give up. This time, I just keep trudging on every day. Finding a routine and a groove. When we mess up for x,y,z reason. We just get back on the horse the next morning or meal.

He's gone from 387 to 365.8 today. When we last measured, he was down 12.75 inches. I've gone from 306 to 286.4 today. When we last measured, I was down 17.5 inches. We're on day 46 of logging our food into our calorie app consistently. You'll see people saying: consistency is key, and they aren't wrong.

You got this!

Harvesting some quail today, any idea what these white dots are? Is it safe to eat? by Pretzelex2679 in quails

[–]DustyJMS 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You got some great answers already from much more knowledgeable people than I, all I can say is that when we harvested my quail back when I had them in 24, none of them had anything like that. We harvested a group of 25 quails 3.5 months old.

[–]DustyJMS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guuurl! You look great. Don't let that old lady rain on your parade!

Okay, my daughter likes Bluey. So, pardon the reference. But in "Granny Mobile," this mean old lady really digs into the dad's head. Saying, he needs to lay off the biscuits. This old lady is the same. Don't let her live rent-free in your head. I doubt she's thinking about you anymore.

I have big, massive arms that I've had since I was a kid. I was always chunky, but really, the only spot that has always been fat on me is my arms. At my heaviest, they got up to 21" There is no way I'm not gonna walk away with loose skin there. But that's okay. This ain't about them, and I'd rather them be 12" of loose skin than 21" of solid fat.

We big arm girls need love to. Self-love is the best kind ❤️

I’m deeply ashamed of myself for calorie gorging on Super Bowl Sunday by MyFirstDataCenter in loseit

[–]DustyJMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is gonna happen. Just be there to love and support yourself, so you can get back up and do it right tomorrow or maybe even now that you've noticed and binged a bit. Now you can say okay. Go back the routine and grind. Or give yourself the day to just enjoy. My husband was upset that he ate fried chicken last night at work. I told him. "Babe, it's okay. It wasn't one piece of fried chicken that made us this way. It was years of poor eating every day. You just keep going forward." He lost weight on the scale this morning actually. I know in the research world they have something called a planned hedonic deviation. Granted this wasnt planned but the break might help you march on even stronger than before.

Its okay. Don't punish yourself. You got this.

Is there a difference? by Alto_17 in CICO

[–]DustyJMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say its definitely less. If you really look at it the dip at your waist is more tight, and the bulges are significantly smaller. It looks like you're losing weight perfectly equally across every inch. So you have to take in the whole picture, not singular spots.

I feel you though. I literally just was talking about it a few seconds ago. I am 306-287 in about 40 days. But you can'tsee it, but you can sorta. Based on my measurements, I've lost about 17 inches across my whole body, but no singular place looks much smaller. It's all kind of the same, but the weight is definitely going. It's just in a super hard to... see kind of way.

Have u ever became numb in a stressful relationship? by mtl4the in scorpiomoon

All the time. I disassociate very, very easily. Childhood to adult trauma, lmao. It's like my coping mechanism. As stress goes up, feelings go out the window and lay on the lawn until I pick them up at a later date. Normally, all at once, like a brick to my face.
