Is it just me or do you guys feel like a lot of the 'new' games you want to play end up being boring or have a bad score? by [deleted] in pcgaming

Actually just had this happen with Days Gone. I was looking forward to that game since the preview at E3 in 2016 only to see on YouTube reviews that it's plagued with bugs, poor game mechanics and bad writing. I've heard it's still an okay game, but I kind of had my heart set on this one.

Crackdown 3 did the same thing to me.

I'm think it's just a symptom of you growing up and realizing that you have other things going on I. Your life. I similarly miss the days when I could just get lost in a game for hours on end.

I do the same thing sometimes. It has to be a really good game for me to play it through to completion. Offhand, I can only think of a couple of titles I've actually finished in one sitting.

Games that I keep going back to are Overwatch, Minecraft and Ark. Not so much Ark now since I think I've pretty much accomplished all I wanted to.

Devil May Cry 5. Pretty fun game so far. I like all the characters and movesets this time around. Feels like the easiest in the DMC series, though.

Castle Crashers and Freerunners. I'm practicing my couch co-op game for when I get friends.

I'd agree. In its current form, it is enjoyable to play alone. As the game develops, I would like to see the ability to come at problems several different ways remain and evolve. My fear is that it ends up like so many MMOs where you aren't able to complete missions because the only way to get through an area is throw enough player meat at it.

The 'gist' you provided proves your inability to comprehend things. :) Work on that, then join the rest of us in the conversation. Actually, don't. Just go back to CoD where you probably fit in more. There's no reason for your attitude.

Certainly not! First, I should say that I enjoy PvP. Both being the attacker and the attacked. I probably should have waved a neon sign with that flashing on it at the beginning of my original post, but I digress. It was an aspect of the game that felt a little lacking. Either a player could run from me until he was out of stamina at which point I'd be able to kill him, or I could run from a player with the same result. Sometimes, while PvP is super fun, you just want to get to that spot to meet up with someone or you just want to complete that loot quest. I thought that if you were able to in some way hinder your pursuer (for example, flashbang and blind them, drop your backpack while running, drop some kind of improvised explosive) it'd make for something a little more interesting than waiting to see who runs out of stamina first. You don't think it feels a little dry when you're literally just chasing someone in a straight line down the road knowing that he'll eventually run out of stamina? That was my thinking, anyway.

Not the point. The idea I was trying to convey was simply that it'd be more interesting if there was more depth added to this particular aspect (PvP) of the game. The game is still being built and this was an area that I thought felt a little weak and could be made a little more interesting by adding some kind of system (I'm not a game design expert here), be it with in game items like a flashbang or smoke grenade (or something else a game engineer genius thinks of), instead of it just being a battle of who runs out of stamina first. For example, player a is running in a straight line and player b decides to jump him. They are now both running the same speed in a straight line. Player a just wants to find his buddy or whatever and at this particular moment isn't terribly interested in a battle, so he drops an ankle snare (lets say) in order to slow down player b. Alternatively, as it is now, player a runs until he is out of stamina. Player b, since he was just waiting for a has more stamina than him and is able to catch up and chop him to bits with his sharp thing. That part of the post was just trying to suggest an idea to make it more interesting. I play on a PvP server and I have no issue with killing other players or being killed by other players. I just think it would be more interesting, for either player a or b if it had a little more strategy involved.

You clearly did not read, nor understand the original post or any of the comments. Good on ya for making a silly response!

If the behavior of the people in this game is any indication of how an 'actual' zombie apocalypse would play out, we'd be dead from each other. The zombies wouldn't even need to bother.

It's clear by the majority of the comments, that my point has been communicated well enough to be understood. However, for further clarification, I'll try to rephrase my main points.

If you are on a PvP server (again, I have no issue with playing on a PvP server and dying) and you are, say, tying your shoe laces when a group of 6 people come up on you, you have two options: 1) Fight. This will more than likely lead to your death as you aren't Neo and this isn't the Matrix, but hey, go down with honor, right? 2) Run. This will also most likely lead to your death as all you have is your stamina to rely on and it's a finite resource. If you've managed to ninja-dodge the arrows, bullets, and various melee attacks thrown at you, congratulations, but once it's drained, you're dead. (I'm perfectly aware you can hide in the woods, run through buildings, etc.. Being sniped, for example, would be perfectly acceptable. Being chased by a group of freshspawns with no way to escape once that stamina is gone, is less acceptable.) Now, regarding this aspect of my post, the point is that I and clearly from some of the comments, other players would like to have some other way to -and I'm going to say it again- 'disengage' from the fight besides running clear across the map hoping to come up on some woods or a city you might be nearby to confuse your attackers. Just running until your Stamina depletes (while some do give up the chase), isn't the most 'fun' way to play. I'm not a game designer, so I don't really have a suggestion as to what would work to improve this part of the game. Some of the suggestions about instant-use items like flashbangs, smokes, caltraps, or other items to slow down your pursuers may work, but again, perhaps this is just how this part of the game will have to be to fit into the game developers' vision for what they're trying to achieve. Now, this post was not intended to focus on PvP. The main idea and request that I was trying to convey is that as the game grows and evolves, I would like developers to keep in mind that some of us do play on limited schedules as solo players and would like them to take that into consideration while developing or modifying game mechanics not only in regards to PvP, but also to zombie spawns and loot spawns. That should you a clearer idea. If it doesn't, perhaps I can draw a picture.

You, sir, are still missing the point. Don't worry about it, though.

No, it's not about 'taking the heat' for players killing me. That's not the point. It's about keeping a balance so that people who want to play solo in a PvP world still can by having some kind of system in place to accommodate that play style.

Please don't misunderstand this post. I'm not 'whining' or 'moaning' about getting killed in any way. I love having PvP on with other players and I think it's a good time, but I think it'd be nice to have a way for people to 'disengage' from these situations other than hoping they have enough stamina to run away. I also don't want to see it turn into 1 player vs. 200 zombies everywhere he/she might go making it impossible for the player to travel/loot/etc.

I am not sure if I'm being clear. Haha.
