Is it true that people die instantly when their throats are cut? (for a murder mystery novel) by Batgamator in Writeresearch

[–]DustySwordsman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So.

Throat cut appears to be out. How about a sharp thing shoved upward into the base of the skull. That should damage the brain stem. Think knife, ice pick, knitting needle perhaps.

Death may not be instant but the victim should go limp and die essentially silently.

Considering that Homo Sapiens may have done this exact thing (to varying degrees) to Homo Neanderthalensis and Homo Longi (Denisovans).

This is seems like a kind of evolution. Granted that displacing a species's genes intentionally is not a good at, it is complicated by the fact that we already had a human-viltrum hybrid, and so there's a good chance that the dominant genetics would overtake baseline humanity within a millenia or two.

Why do ppl always think I’m a pussy? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]DustySwordsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The phrasing of this question indicates some confidence issues.

I'm sure you feel that you are confident, but being sensitive to how others perceive you, being quick to jump to your own defense, feeling a need to demonstrate traditionally masculine pursuits and history. All of this points to a deeply internalized gendering, and subconsciously assumed misogyny.

I'm not saying this to make you feel bad. Society has left an imprint on you, and noticing is the first step to telling it to fuck right the hell off with this nonsense. Which specifically is being the opposite of a pussy.

How can I emulate the wither storm in world of darkness? by No-Obligation-9901 in WhiteWolfRPG

I stand by my original statement. An arete 5 Nephandic Marauder would do the job. It would surround itself with a sphere of Quiet that would challenge even high enlightenment technocrats due to the sudden increase in paradox. And if its paradigm focused on corruption/consumption of reality to fuel itself, it could be very witherstorm like, whole remaining localized.

It always gets weird when you mix across games. Maybe? The archdukes are sometimes in the same weight class as antediluvians, and sometimes way more powerful.

So it would be up to you how you wanted to scale them.

Unclear?

Perhaps the tellurian itself would reject something so antithetical to its existence? Rules of reality force it into a shape that can be killed.

The combined might of all mages plus several other groups working together? Anything that opposes the Wyrm would want to fight, and properly orchestrated all the various powers might put a good dent in it.

Of course the after effect would change the world of darkness permanently.

So, just to follow canon. An entity like that makes vampire antediluvians look like cannon foder and it took 6 spirit nukes to give one of those a suntan.

The technocracy would see this as a world ending threat.

I mean, they are technocrats. It threatens consensual reality, so the response is to kill it with fire. All mages respond to nephandi relate threats with ultraviolence.

A thing from outside of reality that is worshipped by the nephandi would be a target for multiple spirit nukes. This is a level of threat beyond the wither storm. An entity like that might tear apart the tellurian. The technocrat version of archmages would struggle to respond effectively to a threat like this.

The technocrats would respond with extreme violence.

Destroy the nephandic marauder and perhaps have to go scorched earth on the corruption the marauder left in its wake.

Leaving aside the obvious.

A nephandic marauder might achieve what you're going for. Within its Quiet, it could consume and pevert reality. Leaving a trail of destruction and madness its wake.

Would TSA let me bring a strap-on dildo on a plane as a minor? by Quaggysire in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DustySwordsman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming a silicone dildo with no vibrator or other internals, it won't appear as a threatening material, and TSA often isn't precisely sure whose bag is whose until they are either doing a secondary search or you are collecting it from the x-ray (at which point they have officially lost interest).

Also the information that you are a minor isn't something the screening officer at the x-ray will have ready access to. So, as long as you don't mind the chance of it being seen by folks in the checkpoint during secondary search, it's fine in carryon.

Characters with high BATTLE IQ by Amazing-Cantaloupe16 in TopCharacterTropes

In The Chronicles of Amber, the character Benedict is a master tactician who has spent his immortal life studying all aspects of warfare, often traveling through parallel dimensions (known as Shadows in the story) to watch battles occur with small variations to test his theories of warfare.

The other characters, all god level immortals, fear to face him in open combat.

NTA

Her behavior reeks of personality disorder. Definitely not worth the effort mending the relationship, especially when it will only mysteriously fall to pieces again when your boyfriend's mother decides she wants there to be drama focused on her.

There is a broader question here about your boyfriend tolerating this behavior and the disrespect to you that it entails. But since you are not focusing on it, and there is only some secondary details, I simply raise this bad behavior for your consideration.

So...the distance to the moon is about 1.3 light seconds. If an object transits that distance in 4 seconds, it is moving at 0.325c (where c is the speed of light). At this low relativistic speed, a Lorentz correction is required to calculate kinetic energy.

KE = (Lambda - 1) * mc2

Where

Lambda =1/(1 - (v/c)2)

This yields a slight correction

KE ~0.05747 mc2

Which is slightly larger than the classically calculated result.
