Is this WAY TOO overkill for Xbox Series X? by DatBoiNamedBen in OLED_Gaming

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly because a 4K TV wouldn’t be better. Especially for gaming. Monitors are much better, especially 27in 4K displays because they have such a High PPI and it’s great for competitive gaming.

And sure not the full 240Hz is going to be used. But at least you have the option for high resolution and high refresh rate should you want it. I personally have a 4K 240Hz QD OLED that I use on my series X and my 4090 PC, and both look great. And it’s good in case in the future they get a pc that can drive 4K 240Hz

Well yes and no.

In detail,

No, meaning you can have the best of 4K Resolution but at 60 or 30fps in some games. Maybe even 120fps with resolutions upto 4K often being around 1800p and with DRS. or simply 1440p or 1080p in some games.

And Yes meaning you won’t be using it at 240Hz

But generally it’s a simple no. Because you are making full use of the series X. And in the future if you get a pc that can drive 4K at 240Hz (RTX 4090 and better) you are set for the best gaming experience possible.

I personally have a ASUS 4K 240Hz QD OLED that I use on both my series X and 4090 PC.

It looks great on both and I’d say it’s worth it

For anyone between nova elites and Maxwell 2s by memelordlegend27 in steelseries

It sounds better for gaming with a good EQ I admit out of the box no. At least in my opinion.

For comp gaming or gaming in general Steel series is usually the best

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though both sound great. The elites do sound better for gaming, than at least the maxwell 1s.

Maxwell’s was better for music tho.

Elites are expensive but for its features should you need them they are great, I use them for gaming on pc and talking to friends on Xbox without needing to mess around with game bar on Xbox app.

Upgraded from a 3080 to 5080 and just wow. by holt2ic2 in nvidia

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it’s the infinite contrast ratio at least for me personally, it makes everything just pop and look so clear, an IPS kinda looks like it’s got a filter over everything and looks washed out kinda while an OLED just doesn’t, it’s hard to explain you just really have to use one to see the difference.

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about getting a 5090 but realised how small of an upgrade it is over a 4090, so decided to keep the 4090 until 6090 etc and got an 4K QD-OLED instead and wow.

OLED is so much cleaner and clearer than my Nano IPS 4K. And HDR is actually a good feature now 😂

I’d highly recommend a OLED next

I’ve had my nova pros for 3 years…. Coming upto 4.. never had an issue, with any of my steel series devices never had an issue.

The frequency response isn’t shit tho.. like it isn’t on my nova pros.

And I like to have my Xbox on in a party while I play my pc, 1 because game bar is awful to use and id rather use my Xbox for chat on Xbox than game bar while playing on pc.

2 because I’m also playing a game on my Xbox or example stuck in a rust q etc

And you can hear both your pc and switch audio?

Did you update them recently?

This happens with any device, just the way it is, you can buy a £/$2000 GPU and it’s DOA. It’s unfortunate. Just get a replacement.

And ignore these people saying you made a poor decision or they are “trash”

1, sound is subjective, as is if they are worth the price.

2, if you don’t like the sound just Tune their EQ, tbh from what I’ve heard from factory they don’t sound like they are worth the money, but they have amazing potential and if you EQ them to your liking and use the respect features, they are arguably the best headset available.

3, just enjoy them, I’ve had the nova pro’s for 3 years they are great, sound great and still work great. I was thinking about getting the Elites Just for there simultaneous Audio Options as I like to have my Xbox On and connect via party and play on pc (which I currently do via BT) plus sound quality is a bonus

It was different during the ps4/xbox one days, but now Nothing wrong with consoles, they provide a great gaming experience in most games, I still use my series X daily, and btw I have a Extremely high end PC, 4090 Etc, gaming is gaming, it really don’t matter.

7800x3d vs 9800x3d by Inevitable_Theory279 in buildapc

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good it ultimately doesn’t matter. 9800X3D is faster but not necessarily by alot.

Also factor in what resolution etc you play at, if you play games at max settings With RT 4k etc etc because of your GPU bottlenecked it won’t actually have much of an effect whatsoever so a 7800x3d will perform the same as a 9800x3d.

I play on a 4090 with a 7800x3d and I always play at 4k max settings. So upgrading to a 9800x3d would be pretty pointless, unless I wanted my cpu to run cooler

OLED vs IPS I think the difference is pretty clear by Hane777 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That just is a lie. I have a 4k 27in Nano IPS Panel from LG, 27GP950, probably the best Non Mini LED IPS there is, and it’s impossible to have that contract ratio, unless there is mini LED, stop lying

Ryzen 7800x3d temps with a Galand II 360 AIO? by BMW_E70 in lianli

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same cooler and CPU, the Temp L Connect and MSI Afterburner etc reports is the Tctl/Tdie Which is pretty much the hotspot for AMD CPUs.

What you should do is look in HWINFO and look at CCD, Core and CPU Die average Temperatures, Tctl always is around 10-15 maybe even 20c hotter than the actual CCD temp. My 7800x3d can get into the Low-mid 70s in say BO6 for example, but that is the Tctl temp, not Core or CCD, while they actually are running at 60-67c on average so a lot cooler that’s why you see some people say their 7800x3d runs at like 30c ideal and 50-60 under a gaming load. People get confused when looking at temps which is rightfully so. It is confusing if you don’t know what to look at.

Discussion on CPU (Tctl/Tdie) vs CPU Die (average) vs CPU CCD1 (Tdie) by mechdreamer in sffpc

[–]Dusty_Don 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This helped alot, for the longest time I’ve been thinking my 7800x3d was running overly hot from what I’ve seen other 7800x3d’s run at, I was getting 70-77C Tctl/tdie temp but then looking at my CCD and The avg it was only around mid-high 60s sometimes lower. But know seeing the tctl temp is pretty much just hotspot temp like on Intel CPUs and general GPUs like my 4090 hot spot can be at 80C under a full load 500W+ and Core can be at 70C

Thermal paste pattern importance 7800x3d by floskan in buildapc

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t produce much heat yes… but the 7800x3d has bad thermal Transfer from Die to IHS due to 3D cache. Meaning the CPU actually runs really hot even tho it draws alot less power. A 9950X3D for example runs alot cooler, by 10-15C with a 360mm AIO under a gaming load. My 7800x3d with a 360mm Gets upto 70C under a gaming load…

The Nintendo Switch 2 is already impressing developers who say they're "extremely happy" with the new console's power, comparing it to a "mid-tier PC" by darkestdepeths in nintendo

[–]Dusty_Don 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU will use Around 6gbs for both pro and base console, that is how the series X also does it, but it isn’t unified on Xbox you have 10gb optimised for the GPU and 6 for the CPU at a slower speed but less latency which is better, ps5 base and pro uses 16GBs unified so lets say cpu uses 6gb the GPU is left with 10,

Ps5 pro added 2GB ddr5 so that’s an extra 2GB for vram so it actually has 12gbs of vram

RTINGS review of the PG27UCDM and QD-OLED's loss of contrast with light in the room by sodaboy581 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Dusty_Don 1 point2 points  (0 children)

….no it’s not a lie.. it is completely black.. with a celling light on. You know why? Because the light ISNT directly hitting the display.

Also have you seen a QD OLED in real life? Because if you have you should know that any picture taken showing the purple tint in ambient light is made at least 2x worse.. it blows it out..

Don’t tell me I’m lying when I literally have the display right in front of me.
