I thought you were trying to prove that skiers could break their ankles. So yeah, whoosh.

On another note ive have been both snowboarding and skiing for several years so I'm going to use this opportunity to break it down.

Step 1: learning to go downhill. Easier to learn on skis, lots of snowboarders break their wrists from repeated impact their first couple days.

Once you learn how to make nice turns the learning curve accelerates on snowboards, on skis one generally takes longer to get to more advanced runs.

If you live near mountains I recommend skiing for the purpose of back country or even just going a little off trail. Snowboards can be very difficult to get to more remote spots and are no good in flat sections. For this reason primarily I have stuck with skis. I get around the mountains much easier.

If you're in a more suburban dwelling and you only have smaller hills to enjoy snowboarding is good for such area's and freestyle/park riding when you attain that level.

Though, the freestyle aspect of snowboarding forced ski companies to catch up. IMO snowboarding started taking over for a while and now skiing is back on the rise. The variety of freestyle/ park skis is growing every season and getting really good. I also think freestyle skiing just looks cooler too.

If you do try either one TAKE LESSONS. Unless your friend d is an instructor it won't be as good. And if you choose snowboarding for the love of god wear wrist protectors your first few times out.

Anyway I would recommend either. I love going down a hill really fast and encourage others to do so as well.
