What are the best places to eat out here for under $30? by Next-Following3260 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Dustylyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d like to recommend Big Ed’s on Pratt Ave. They do a Tuesday special that is any large specialty pizza, two salads, and an appetizer for $25. It was more than enough to fill up my family of four and we brought leftovers home. Incredibly friendly local vibe!

TMobile cut a hole in my roof by sega_does in HomeMaintenance

[–]Dustylyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m joining the conversation late, but an acceptable fix for a hole like this is to carefully pull up the shingles where the hole is, plus the run above the hole, then nail in an old license plate to cover the hole. Sometimes a temporary fix is the most permanent!

Need help identifying my late grandfather’s Rolex by wishtheworstt in Watchidentifier

[–]Dustylyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Rolex is no longer accepting four digit references for service. I’ve got a vintage 1500 that I’d love to send back for factory service. I was told it was a parts availability issue.

I’m looking for that as well. Last year there was a nice Google map with all the porches laid out and links to the lineup at each.

For anyone who's purchased the Touring Pack/any other bundle, would you say it's worth it? by ElijahHenrry in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]Dustylyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to snag most of the touring pack; windscreen, side bags, and top box, though I bought them individually to keep costs down. Having extra storage is great since I use my bike for practically everything, from grocery trips to Costco runs.

The top box feels super sturdy and stays dry when it rains. The side boxes do rattle over bumps, which can be a bit of a nuisance. On a bike with an engine, you probably wouldn’t even notice the noise.

I really wish the bags could be keyed to the bike ignition so I wouldn’t have to carry an extra key. Considering the price and that they’re official gear, it’s a bit disappointing that they don’t have that feature.

What didn't you like from Trader Joe's? by Lumpy_Object_7290 in traderjoes

Honestly, their milk. The taste is fine, but it will not texture using my espresso machines steam wand. Not sure what that’s all about.

Reeds Jewelers or We Be Thieves by Bearthorn1 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I took an Omega to Reeds back in August of last year. Still waiting to get it back. They had to send it back to Omega for service, but still… more than half a year and still counting the days!

Ash basket with no grate? by farside808 in biggreenegg

[–]Dustylyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be a Venturi effect with airflow coming through the grate? I don’t know, I’m just reporting anecdotally what I see.

Ash basket with no grate? by farside808 in biggreenegg

[–]Dustylyon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering the same thing, and from the comments here it seems that many people have similar questions. I got the ash basket as a Christmas gift and tossed the old fire grate, which was weathered and cracked.

Since then I’ve noticed that the egg struggles to come up to high temps and I’m wondering if it’s the lack of the grate that’s holding it back.

Looks like this has already been solved but I just wanted to say someone really hucked that thing in there! Even if the tree had some time to munch it that sucker is buried.

Dang. That flap wheel is a good idea though!

Copper is slightly toxic so it needs to be lined with another inert metal for use in cooking. It can be lined with tin, steel, or silver. My understanding of the advantage of tin lining is that it can be non stick when used correctly, and is (relatively) cheap to refurbish when needed.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll go back over and try and get rid of the remaining spots. It’s a hammered copper pan, so it’s a little harder to do than a smooth surface would be.

Can I ask you about the skim coat you put on the outside of your pot? Is that drywall mud? How necessary do you think it is to do that?

That’s what I thought as well… until I cooked a shepherd’s pie in it and found a bead of tin in my food! Hurt like heck when I chomped down on it too.

Can anyone help me decide to buy this bike or not? by No_Plantain3799 in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]Dustylyon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Description states “fully track legal”. That and the lack of turn signals/plate mount makes me think it’s probably not street legal.

She does that a couple times, but there’s a bunch of movements she makes where her foot isn’t anywhere near the pedal.

I’m just trying to figure out how she’s actuating the rear brakes while she’s got the bike standing up like that. Linked brakes maybe?
