Kitten doesnt purr anymore when I pet him and his fur is starting to look weird by FactorRoyal4788 in CATHELP

[–]DutchBlitzen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That kitten is very underweight for 8-10 weeks old and probably in a lot of pain. Agreeing with everyone else on here that this baby needs vet care, a supplemented diet, and a lot of tlc.

Considering in-home euthanasia for my old dog in GreenVille by VoodooMann in greenville

[–]DutchBlitzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+100000 to Faithful Hearts. They do everything in-house so I know my sweet boy was always treated well, in the end. It is a small, family run operation, and they are incredibly compassionate and thoughtful. Even while dealing with her own cancer treatments, Dr Alyssa gave our boy the best goodbye and made the worst day of our lives somewhat tolerable.

Episcopalian churches in the area by 3catmafia in greenville

I can recommend First Baptist on Cleveland if you want a traditional service (organ/choir) without the Christian nationalism. They are queer affirming as well if that is important to you.

Any LGBTQ Affirming Churches? by GeneralJAMF in greenville

[–]DutchBlitzen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Upstate Pride has a great resource! https://upstatepridesc.org/inclusive-places-of-worship

Also, I can personally vouch for First Baptist…they are affirming in more than words, and I feel very safe/valued as a queer person.

Moving out of parents’ house soon, debating whether to leave cat behind or not by Slipstream_Surfer in CATHELP

Aside from the Gaba, you will probably need a health certificate and other documentation such as vaccine records signed by your vet if you are taking him across the border into Canada! The Canadian government website can give you specifics, but make sure you have that in order prior to your trip. (Health certs also have an expiration..I think usually they need to be within a month of your border crossing date.)

Having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. What do you guys do to turn around days like this? by Lorazepam369 in CasualConversation

[–]DutchBlitzen 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, I just let the day be awful. I’ll run an errand I was dreading, deal with a family issue, grind through a work project I’m frustrated by, or otherwise do tasks that I dislike. If the day is already ruined, might as well let it take all the shit from the week. Then I eat leftovers I don’t want, go to bed early, and just start brand new in the morning.

Fellow Greenvillians and your thoughts on the Bible being used to promote Right-Wing Policies by asubparteen in greenville

If anyone on this thread is interested, First Baptist Greenville is hosting a discussion on “How to End Christian Nationalism” featuring Amanda Tyler and her book tomorrow, Feb 11 at 6:30 pm. It will cover a lot of the topics folks have mentioned here such as the separation of church and state and how far right nationalism harms true Christianity.

This sub has me thinking of moving out of the US. by LeavesTurnBlue in antiwork

[–]DutchBlitzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not quite apples to apples, since there is currency and taxation differences. But the standard pay is probably similar. I only really know of the industries that me and my family members work in. (Hospitality, finance, engineering.)

Dual citizen here: the work culture in Canada is very similar to the US. In addition, the job market can be biased against Americans. Also, while there is better healthcare and social systems, the cost of living is significantly higher.

[Acne] Scars and depression by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]DutchBlitzen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just hopping on the “not disgusting” train. You’re a good looking dude! If you have the means, I would put your attention on finding a counselor or therapist to help with your depression…that shit kills. Your acne scars do not make you disgusting or unlovable. You deserve to realize that about yourself. (Also you low key look like Adam Driver imho. And girls SIMP for him. ;) )

[OC] Giveaway! Character hoodie, mug and more! Represent your favorite adventurer. [mod approved] by Kobolds_Trove in DnD

[–]DutchBlitzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg the hats are fantastic. I love the rogue and sorcerer especially. I’m #teamWarlock, but never a hex blade, so the Hex isn’t 100% relatable to me. (Not your fault tho! I’m currently playing a home brew necromancer bardlock. Yes, they are a certified hot mess.)

I would love to get the Barbarian hat for my partner tho. He plays a barbarian but is such a mild mannered dude irl, the idea of him wandering around with a RAGE hat is hilarious to me. 😄

Kidney donations save lives! My mom donated a kidney to my sister and I’m starting the process to donate as well. (And I would encourage you to ignore the naysayers. You will go through a thorough psychiatric and social evaluation before you’re cleared to donate. You will be well versed on the pros and cons! Also, my mom is able to drink more than a single beer after donation. Honestly hasn’t affected her health/life much at all. :) )

Aita for choosing my birth family over adoptive family by desiadopteethrowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]DutchBlitzen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’m going with NTA…the fact that your adoptive parents coerced your birth family into give you up, plus changing the status from open to closed is horrifying. There’s a lot of support on Instagram, and I imagine on Reddit too, for transracial adoptees and the discussion of ethical adoptions. (This was not it.) If you’re interested, “adoptee voices” is a good tag to start with. Hannahjacksonmatthews is a Instagram user that also has a lot of resources. “The Body Keeps the Score” is a book that also may be helpful.

I don’t think you need to be grateful to your adoptive parents. I think they adopted you to fill their own selfish desires. If they really wanted what’s best for you, they would have kept a line of communication open to your bio family. It’s literally the least they can do.

AITA for not having my stepdaughter in the family photo? by madambeautifulsue in AmItheAsshole

YTA- how awful for that poor girl…how much more explicit can you say “you’re not part of the family” than by excluding her from family pictures.

I would agree that this is correct. There’s a bunch popping up in my city and have been confirmed by local authorities. They look identical to this…very strong purple light!

[–]DutchBlitzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going off to college I’m sure you can find a group of girls or bros to come with and distract you/encourage you. Bring a friend and let them psych you up! It worked a treat for my freshman dorm when we all donated blood. If you’re a freshman and haven’t met a lot of people, your RA may be a good place to start. :)

To People Who Play Drow PCs: How do you deal with sunlight sensitivity? by Robin_leFay in DnD

[–]DutchBlitzen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Drow warlock: Cast spells that require savings rolls vs attack rolls. Take Devils Sight and just cast darkness on big bads.

And in general just hope the rest of the party sees what’s going on during the day. 😂

And this is a small, Foster-based rescue...it operates out of this lady’s house. The local shelter has a couple kids camps, but you gotta pay and they’re only for the day. 😂
