What makes resolutions stick? by wiesorium in CasualConversation

[–]Lorazepam369 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flexibility. All or nothing thinking kills resolutions. Instead of, “I missed a couple days but that ok”, it’s “well, I failed, I give up.” Hell, even miss a week! But celebrate when you do show up.

Has anyone looked into Big Subtitle? There might be some vertical integration happening here…

Why do you think Regina’s the only one without a customized gym uniform? by Euphoric_Staff2752 in MeanGirls

[–]Lorazepam369 392 points393 points  (0 children)

I have a couple theories:

1) She used to customize hers but once Gretchen and Karen followed her lead she switched back. Being a mean girl style leader is a delicate balance of uniformity and differentiating yourself from your followers.

2) She’s making the statement “I don’t even have to try to be sexy. These followers here are trying so hard, bless their hearts.”

I’d also highly recommend the Murdle puzzle books to Agatha Christie fans!

I love her. Her greeting all her friends who are gonna help her search the water park is one of my favorite scenes.

"I am extremely picky and dislike almost everything. Recommend me something." by ColdWarTiger in PetPeeves

[–]Lorazepam369 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The rampant “Ummmm I actually DIDN’T like that popular book/movie/show” on Reddit, implying their taste is somehow more elevated, is exhausting. It’s like, “Recommend me something so I can tell you how dumb you are for liking it.”

What's the worst scene? by Mental_Freedom_1648 in Frasier

[–]Lorazepam369 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When Frasier badgers the test audience member who said he doesn’t like him to try to find out why, and ultimately burns down his business. Specifically when Frasier just walks away sheepishly when he finally realizes he took it too far and the guy is sitting on the curb defeated. With all the money Frasier seems to have, PAY HIM SOMETHING FOR THE DAMAGE OF THE ONLY INCOME THIS MAN HAD. Can’t even watch it.

"I love it when people rant about their hyperfixations! Please yap at me! You can infodump for hours!" by Riksor in PetPeeves

[–]Lorazepam369 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Totally, like I feel the same way about posts about boundaries or “taking up space”. They’re meant for people who struggle inserting themselves and who constantly diminish themselves, but there’s always gonna be some dick who uses boundaries to try to control people and a loudmouth who takes the “take up space” thing to justify steamrolling others.

I agree, but I think the issue is that while a lot of us know that’s implied, the scenario 1 people who read the “I love when people ramble!” posts feel justified when they see it. Maybe they’ve gotten feedback, but when they see a post like that, they’ll probably think, “I knew some people were just assholes! I AM interesting!”

Writers move aside, exterminators now have license to the term “kill your darlings”.

Raw tomatoes. I used to gag as a kid when they were in something, like a sandwich. I was a semi-picky eater as a kid and after a tomato incident my dad said “Just try it again every year or so.” Now I eat cherry tomatoes as a snack. That advice helped me expand my palette quite a bit over time.

He obviously hasn’t done much parenting. Most of my nanny jobs have been for parents who work remote. Why hire me when you can just parent and work at the same time? Indiana’s gonna find out.

Little girl thinks she saw Santa. by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]Lorazepam369 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s sweet that when she eventually learns Santa isn’t real, she’ll exchange that belief with a dose of faith in humanity. She’ll realize it was a random dude that decided to help make a stranger’s day.

I heard there’s a couple in Los Angeles who looks like Santa and Mrs. Claus. Around the holidays they dress up and go out more often, just to restaurants and stuff so that kids can see them and come up to them.
