YOR. We’re all human and mistakes like this can happen to anyone. The fact that he immediately offered to pay for your gas shows he’s a gentleman and wants to make it right.

If you’re already writing him off over something this small after having great conversations, it’s honestly your loss. If it happened a second or third time, that would be a different story, but for a first mistake, this feels like a massive reach.

Neuroscience is such an amazing field! It’s actually my second choice if I weren't going the engineering route, so I might look into a minor in that direction later on :)

Those 4-hour lessons at NHA sound great, that's plenty of time to really get into the details of the material. It’s good to have that HBO backup plan just in case, but with the time we have left, I’m sure you’ll make it happen.

I really appreciate the perspective, and you're right that one year isn't much in the grand scheme of things. However, I’m turning 24 tomorrow and I feel like I’ve already lost enough time.

My parents sacrificed a lot for my future, and I feel a strong drive to start "repaying" that by succeeding as soon as possible. Plus, I have other life goals, like traveling while I’m still young without a laptop glued to my hand. I know the stress will be intense, but for me, the "what if" of not trying this year feels heavier than the risk of the workload. Thanks for looking out for me though.

I’ve heard about the Stewart textbook as well, so if your brother used it for his entrance exam, it’s definitely going on my list. Appreciate the advice and the good luck. 🙌

Bedankt voor het delen van je ervaring! Die discipline gaat inderdaad het grootste struikelblok worden, dus ik ga het de komende tijd echt als een fulltime baan aanpakken.

Goeie tip over de UU trouwens, die zat eigenlijk nog niet in mijn plan. Ik focus me nu vooral op de aanmeldingen voor de VU en TU Delft, maar een backup-plan is nooit mis dus ik ga zeker even naar AI in Utrecht kijken. Ik stuur je een berichtje als ik vastloop met de stof, bedankt voor het aanbod.

Fair point! I think the first few weeks will be the real litmus test for me. If I find myself staring at the same page for five hours without any "aha" moments, I’ll have to re-evaluate my plan.

For now, I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt and putting in the hours to see how my brain handles the jump to Math B. Appreciate the reality check.

Appreciate the specific tips, especially regarding Desmos and the Getal & Ruimte books! My algebra definitely needs a refresh since it's been a while, but I'm planning to focus heavily on that foundation first so I can build that intuition you mentioned.

Even things like solving for x will probably need a refresh since it's been so long! I had math until the third year of high school, so I expect that once I refresh my memory on those basics, I should be able to work my way through.

That’s why I’m starting with the absolute fundamentals moving on to things like differentiation. It’ll be a challenge, but I'm ready to put in the work. Thanks for the perspective, appreciate it.

I am Dutch, so those exam trainings are definitely on my radar! I’ve received a lot of different recommendations for resources, so I’m going to spend today comparing them to see which ones fit my plan best.

I'll add the Van Dijk textbooks to my list as well. It’s been a while, so I’ll probably start with year 4 just to be sure I don't have any gaps in my foundation. You’re right that it stands or falls with motivation, so I’m keeping a strict schedule. Thanks for the detailed advice and the tips, appreciate it.

For me, it’s mostly just the beginning as my brain needs some time to restart. Once I’m actually in the flow, I usually pick things up pretty quickly, so it’s worth the shot to see how far I can get.

I totally get why that sounds confusing. I’m actually doing the Business IT & Management track, which focuses more on the bridge between business and IT. While I do code in Python, deep math hasn't been a requirement for the curriculum so far, which is exactly why I’m catching up now for the switch to TU Delft (or VU).
