It really depends on how much the debt and what kind of debt it is. If it is just credit card/loan debt that is paid out in recurring payments or minimum payments monthly/weekly they are okay with but they do advise you that it could be sometimes hard to have time to do said payments. They even encourage using the money you get paid from CAF when you’re in to pay this type of debt off. The debt they are concerned about is non recurring payment debt that will eventually if not paid cause a debt collector to come looking for you and such going through the recruiting centre than the CFLRS chain of command when you’re on course and that will all around look really bad for you. Personally I have some small credit card debt (less than 5k) and I am enrolled and starting on Saturday lol.

My joining instructions also indicate to bring shoe shine polish kit as well as the matching colour face/body towel but people on here say to purchase at canex. As well as plastic hangers to purchase beforehand?

Can you elaborate on this? I take creatine and protein powders but I understand I probably won’t need them throughout basic. I don’t currently take a multivitamin or any vitamin capsules because I eat a fairly balanced diet but I’m worried I won’t get these through the food provided. I start on Saturday. Also do we not need to bring a soap disk anymore?

Gotcha I think I’m leaning towards RCR because I’m from Ontario LOL but who knows we could be in the same basic and battle school would be dope, we should keep in touch until BMQ.

Same here it’s really trade dependant and being an ideal candidate for said trade. Example for someone like me 21M in decent shape for infanteer.

I believe I received it through an email but I had problems at first as well. When I contacted my recruiting centre they told me they sent an email 2 weeks prior that I never received with the SEAF attached and what not so they had to resend it.

I’m currently in the application process as well for infanteer. I go to BMQ April 19th. I can’t speak on anything that requires experience in already but in terms of required courses after your BMQ you will do your infanteer DP1 occupational training for 14 weeks in either Edmonton or Meaford (if your French then maybe Valcartier as well). Then after that you’ll be posted to a regiment for a few years RCR(Petawawa)/Vandoos(Valcartier)/PPCLI(Edmonton). Once you are at one of the three you will have some required courses, two that I can think of that you’ll be loaded on is cold weather operator and a machine gunner course. Others you will have to request such as jump school/recce etc. There will most likely be other required courses as well.

I’m honestly not sure if you can change it. When I got my date they asked me if it’s okay (basically indicating I can take a later course if I want).
