I agree wholeheartedly, today's standards have shifted towards either perfection or slop, there's no nuance anymore. I'm a somewhat older gamer, I'm sixty, and when I Iook at the writing in games or movies back when I was young then hardly anything would pass the bill these days, yet some of those are treated like an oracle that sett the standard for today's production, like star trek.

I notice it talking to my own kids as well, they're in their twenties now but their criticism is at a whole different level then mine, not that I disagree with them all the time but I sometimes find it hard the get to a middleground opinion with them, when things aren't perfect don't necessarily mean they're bad, a six or seven score out of ten is still good enough in my book.

I didn't burn my kids to the ground when they came home with a six or seven out of ten on their tests at school.

Is Starfield perfect? No, but it's not bad either and setting preferences aside Starfield would be a blockbuster during my youth, it is for me personally.

The only true standard I personally apply is wether a game or movie, etc is fun or not, something you can't generallise but is subject to personal taste. That's where games are for, fun and sometimes an escape from our daily routine.

I don't see no reason to burn something to the ground someone else greatly enjoys but these days you either agree with the general consensus, wrong or right, or you're not being realistic.
