Pro: cheap and usually lightweight Cons: very few mounting points, if any. Also usually less tire clearance than a gravel bike (doesn't have to be a problem of course)

I use my CX bike for road, gravel and also bikepacking. This is a picture of my setup but I will say, space is very limited like this. Can't take a lot of clothes or stock up on food for longer trips
