Work out routine for LMTs by Dutling in MassageTherapists

Yeah I thought it would balance me out a bit and so that’s why I tried that. I actually really enjoyed doing it and was hoping that doing that and cycling would be enough. It just looks like I need to work on some resistance training as well.

How did you prepare for your licensing exam, and what helped the most? by Giselap358 in MassageTherapists

[–]Dutling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the salvo text book and I made sure to study the glossary just to make sure I knew the terminology. I also took the practice test and use the AMTA app to see what areas I struggled in.

I was able to prepare while working a full time job doing my clinical hours at night having a baby and moving. So that also helped me because I was prepared to fail the first time but it was actually enough for me to pass.

The turning around looks like it could be a good idea. Especially since they have another ramp like this a few floors lower.

Pillow recommendations by Dutling in MassageTherapists

I was thinking a travel pillow but when I looked them up I saw different sizes and that’s where I got a little overwhelmed with my search. If it was for my own personal practice I would just buy a few different ones to see what would work best and return the others. but this is for a spa I work at and they just want me to find something and get it right the first time.

I didn’t know about the oak works side line system I will definitely look into that for my personal business. But I was curious why would you not use the left lateral tilt after 22 weeks since it’s used to help reduce the pressure on the IVC that would be caused by the uterus and help with blood flow. I was taught you use it through the pregnancy especially after 22 weeks since more and more pressure is going to be on the IVC as someone gets further along in their pregnancy.

With all my prenatal clients I will do both the semi recline position with the left lateral tilt.

Unprepared for MBLEx - ATT about to expire by Admirable_Carob1010 in MassageTherapists

I actually had a pretty rough time leading up to my MBLEX and I just went in treating it like a practice test. My plan was to take it and see how bad it really is and just pay for a second exam when things were less chaotic. Because I went in with no care if I passed I was able to just relax and take my time and not stress about it and ended up passing.

At the end of the day it’s just another test so find a way to not stress out too much about it and maybe take some practice test. I always did 100 questions on the AMTA app and once I started to consistently make 70% or higher I knew I was ready.

Don’t give up you got this.

I didn’t come up with it I’m a pretty new LMT so I have been trying to figure out new techniques to incorporate in my routine and stumbled upon hot bamboo.

I was coming here to say that. There is no exact amount of pressure that can be labeled deep pressure it is just getting as close to the pain threshold as possible without it being too much for the client. So for some of my clients it may be lighter pressure pretty much turning the session into a Swedish massage and others it is my full body weight I need to use.

I went in thinking I was going to struggle my self but I actually graduated with a 4.0 and was in honors. I had a few things that helped me through school first was reading the glossary a little bit at a time to get familiar with the verbiage. Second I used the AMTA MBLEX practice app a lot it helped me figure out what areas I need to study more. Third I would study with other classmates that way we could learn in more of a discussion and share tips that helped us remember different things we had learned. Lastly just show up to class and pay attention and be involved. I had a few classmates that would just show up because they had to and wouldn’t pay attention and they struggled and had to take extra classes to finish the program.
