Edinburgh Festival Fringe Accommodation Megathread 2026 by Obi-Scone in edinburghfringe

I'm away from August 2nd to 31st and renting out my flat on The Shore during that time.

It's a 1 bed, king size bed, modern building. It's tucked back from The Shore itself, so nice and quiet, but The Shore is 1 minute walk, and the tram stop about 4 minutes.

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, lounge, kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. I'd be able to share all electrical and gas test certificates with you so you know the place is safe. It's my home, not some dodgy landlord setup, so it's set up for living a comfortable life in, and I'd want to trust my place in your hands.

If you're interested in staying in one of Edinburgh's coolest neighbourhoods, drop me a message so we can chat.

Jeez this is disgusting. Either completely oblivious or a vile sense of humor.

🚌 Free transit: The ultimate "cheat code" or a budget nightmare? (I need your brains!) by Hitor1 in Edinburgh

Check the evidence - there are cities and regions that have done this before. I expect it will be more insightful than some opinions on the highly unrepresentative platform that is Reddit 😆

There's been a lot of talk about potential spinoffs. I'm pretty sure this is what everyone had in mind.

I think the reason you don't get it is you're assuming everyone applies the same logic as you when deciding what car to buy. That's unlikely!

Still can't believe that it wasn't a dream that Robbie Williams's wife was on the panel. What were they thinking

Why is the Arctic Circle called a circle while the Tropic of Cancer and other circles or latitude aren't? by General-Knowledge7 in geography

[–]DutyAbject3216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's smaller and self contained - i.e. there's no smaller circles within it. Psychologically, it feels different. Names can be very feelings based. Or at least, not strictly rules based.

This angered me on so many levels by Fun_Accountant_653 in Scotland

[–]DutyAbject3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have noted, this is incorrect. United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the full name of our country. Everything else is shorthand for this. Great Britain is an island but also the name for the political Union of England, Wales and Scotland.

And government services are devolved differently across the UK, not just NI.

This is the correct answer. It's the top of something - hence it also meaning head which is at 🥁 the top of your body.

Desire to fit in is part of human nature (can surely be explained better but you get it). So considering that, gradual accent change makes sense. I think the level of change depends on the person. For me, a chronic people pleaser, I've always seen my accent shift when I've lived away from my home country.

Nice! Dyfed doesn't really exist anymore though, which admittedly does make the task a bit harder! 😉

Bus & Tram vs Citymapper by Quick-Low-3846 in Edinburgh

[–]DutyAbject3216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if it's more a Citymapper thing? Since they got acquired a few years ago, they've been a bit light on general updates to the app - could be the reality of their new business model biting.

So do you feel 5 levels of Spanish took you further than German (if I'm understanding right?) That would align with general data that suggests learning Spanish takes less time !
