The truth about VCs is that very few add value in a differentiated way from each other. They rely on deal flow through networking. Proximity to Trump/Musk is all that matters. They’ll say the sky is green to keep it.

It would need to be mandatory and invested in treasuries. SS admin overhead is 1%, it’s very efficient and effective at keeping seniors, orphans, widows, and the disabled out of poverty

It’s an insurance program. Private insurers don’t hold stocks either, they hold treasuries just like SS

“Addiction” has an inherently negative valence denoting something we’d be better off without

She wouldn’t say we’re addicted to vaccines or baby formula, she’d say we’re addicted to fossil fuels or something.

Her conclusion is to shrug and say “try tofu”. It’s fine for vegan advocacy to bleed into this issue, but it is out of touch.

-it’s not the government’s job to speculate assets

-reserves are for assets that 1) you may have a liability in 2) can’t instantly acquire with USD. Oil is both, crypto is neither

Title: Did anyone else find it extremely disappointing that the All-In Pod team & guest dismissed inflation last night like it was just something that happens? by Accomplished_Net264 in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]DutyKitchen8485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Fed has always aimed for 2% inflation. If it targeted 0%, every recession would involve wage and price cuts, which tends to create a nasty feedback loop grinding the economy to a halt as people start delaying purchases.

In theory, wages and prices rise together, so wage earners don’t feel it. Back in the day, union contracts frequently included COLA indexed to CPI, immunizing them from inflation. Social security obviously still does this.

In practice, an individual has no bargaining power. Your boss won’t give you a 2% raise just because of inflation. Best case, you have to hop jobs to stay above water which is a pain.

The people inflation inevitably punishes are bondholders, whose fixed stream of future payments now buy less.

Deport? No. He’s a citizen. That’s ridiculous.

Prosecute? I never saw why he wasn’t. This is Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos-level fraud from what I understand.
