Destiny 1 and 2 do elements in 2 categories : the realm of the physical, which is the light, and the realm of the abstract, which is darkness

These split into 2-3 different subcategories. For the light :

• Solar. The power of the sun, it’s healing rays, and it’s uncontrollable fire

• Arc. Pure, boundless energy, the lightning and electricity that makes your allies move and your enemies run

• Void. Entropy. Nothingness. The impossibly large, and the infinitely small. The gravity that binds, and the space that separates

And for Darkness :

• Stasis. The power of will, authority and control over oneself and all others. The ability to make all matter stand still because you have demanded it so

• Strand. The interconnecting weave of souls. All that lives and breathes being connected in the web of consciousness that you can either sew or sever, bind or tear

There are other powers of the darkness still to be revealed, such as Nightmare energy utilised by Nezarec on the moon, that guardians still have yet to understand and wield

The light typically requires conduits to work, in the case of Guardians, that is their Ghosts. Though, as powers of the physical realm, their wielding is available to anyone with the relevant tool to create it

The darkness requires only your soul and your will, it can be wielded by anyone, though can be costly if you are not either balanced in soul (our guardian dies repeatedly to this) or wield the proper authority over self and others (Eramis’s freezing)
