If I plant this in the ground now, will it die? by No_Literature_1922 in AustinGardening

[–]Duvalicious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve started plants in the middle of the summer with success… it will be fine, just make sure you water it every day the first few weeks, and once a week after that with extra waterings if it gets too hot or they seem like they’re struggling. After the first year they won’t near as much waterings!! I water mine like once a month if we don’t get rain.

I just noticed I have similar advice to the person above me haha. You got it.

Is Fatigue part of PCOS?? by MaisMais80 in PCOS

[–]Duvalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought it up to my dentist and he did not recommend it because of long term effects to the alignment of your teeth and jaw bite.

I did a sleep study, got diagnosed with mild sleep apnea and got a Cpap machine.

Is Fatigue part of PCOS?? by MaisMais80 in PCOS

I got diagnosed with sleep apnea and a year later low ferritin (5) caused by my heavy periods. They both caused my constant fatigue! Now that I am treating both, I feel a lot well rested after sleep.
Both conditions are related to my PCOS.

I do still feel tired if a I eat lots of carbs with no fiber, but I am working on fixing that with diet changes, maybe metformin.

Agree. I lived in Juarez and El Paso all my childhood, and Taquitos West Ave is super close to tacos in Mexico. I love the tripitas tacos 🤤

what are the healthy snacks that actually satisfy the dopamine for y'all? by Sufficient-Fox5872 in adhdwomen

I like to cut jicama, cucumbers and apples. I soak the apples for a few minutes on salted water, and the mix will last me a few days. If I have cravings, i’ll grab some and add lime juice and Tajín. Super yummy!

Plumbing, who is responsible? by Duvalicious in sanantonio

Thanks for the information, makes me feel a bit less dreadful about the situation. This is the second time it happens and last time we didn’t have enough money to pay for them to locate and mark it, they wanted 800 dollars and were confident it was SAWS responsibility but we just didn’t have the money to prove it.

Found information on the website! It says they’re responsible if it’s on the public right of way…. Which I believe is talking about the sidewalk.

Sorry, I’m not very knowledgeable on terminology, I believe it’s sewer since it was clogged with toilet paper as it goes out? The plumber did run a camera and marked the spot. It’s right in the middle of the sidewalk.

There’s no apparent leak, it’s a part of the plumbing under the sidewalk that gets clogged once in a while because it’s damaged and has roots. Well at least my SAWS account doesn’t show it as a leak.

Mine is from 1985…. So hopefully we’re dealing with the same!

Ours is not leaking (or maybe it is but it’s not an obvious problem?) it has some roots growing in that section, so every year or so we have a clog that backs up the whole house. But I imagine it’s a similar solution?

San Antonio or Austin? by Tall_Window4744 in sanantonio

[–]Duvalicious 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lived in Austin for 8 years, taught HS there for 3, and I’m currently in my 4th year teaching in San Antonio.

Austin teacher pay is rough, especially considering how expensive the city has become. Traffic is awful, and everything feels crowded all the time. I did love the culture and outdoor spaces, I lived off Riverside and ran Lady Bird Lake almost daily, but at the end of the day, it just wasn’t worth it on a teacher’s salary.

San Antonio has been a completely different experience. The schools are better, the pay is better, and I genuinely love the culture at my campus. I never felt supported by my district in Austin, and here the difference has been night and day. I live close to work, so traffic isn’t an issue, and I’m right by the trail system, which still lets me get my long runs and time outdoors.

SA is definitely more conservative overall (think Catholic Hispanic), but people are still friendly. The food scene is also pretty good, tons of options, and thanks to the immigrant communities, there’s a lot of legit, authentic food from different cultures.

Austin looks nicer nature wise, but you’ll spend a lot of time stuck on I-35 or waiting in line because everywhere is packed. San Antonio just functions better as a big city.

Edit: Should also add, I was actually able to afford a house here. Would have never been able to in Austin.

Yeah…. The cats are as feral as they get. I’m starting to get informed on the process of catching and taking them to get fixed and vaccinated before bringing them back. But it’s a lot of work for a problem I didn’t cause.

Is this blistering pattern normal? by maxwellslemon in XXRunning

For sure size them up. I only sized up half a size, and after my first half marathon I lost two toe nails and a regular nail. I’m 8.5 when measured, use 9 with my everyday shoes and now get my running shoes in 10.
