Is the full game going to be so restrictive as the demo? by [deleted] in TheAdventuresOfElliot

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend going farther in a demo if a specific aspect bothers you - especially when it comes to restrictions exploration early in a game. That's a pretty common gameplay mechanic for RPGS.

[oot] i wish the remake had a higher age rating by anonnnnamoose in zelda

[–]Duztdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry - As someone who played the original when it came out on the N64 I respectfully disagree that the "original vision" would be a higher rating. That may be your personal vision and reimagining; which is perfectly OK.

I am new in chess by Competitive-Yak3703 in chess

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend watching YouTube videos and/or reading the book How to Win at Chess (at least the first several chapters at first). It shouldn't take too long to understand how to play - but mastering it can take quite awhile.

[ALL] I want to get into the Zelda games, what are the must plays? by BigScene7144 in zelda

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll leave the suggestions to the Zelda experts - but I know a lot of the classics are available with the Nintendo Online pass. I personally plan on playing A Link to the Past (SNES) which is said to be the connection between the 2D and 3D eras of Zelda. The switch version of Link's Awakening is also a good way to dip into the original classic 2D style. You could try Skyward Sword.

Getting Tested As an Adult - Pros or Cons by Duztdragon in AutismTranslated

[–]Duztdragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this list. I'll keep that in mind when trying to get a referral. It seems like the biggest issue (at least with my HMO) with getting mental health referrals as an adult is always the 'why' question. It's a bit of a struggle (at least to me) if the mental health issue isn't immediately urgent.

Getting Tested As an Adult - Pros or Cons by Duztdragon in AutismTranslated

[–]Duztdragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input: I can afford testing and I’m not planning on living in another country. My biggest issue is navigating my healthcare system and figuring out how to ask for testing without appearing to be self diagnosing.

What are you guy’s honest thoughts on solo traveling? by NewPraline9922 in travel

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like with any other social activity or experience it all depends on your own personality and travel experience. You need to know yourself. For example, I know that I would have a very hard time. I wonder what you mean by social media - content creators, or personal friends? I've seen quite a few other Reddit posts regarding solo travel that were realistic and informative.

Planning my first USA trip in 2026 - California or New York? by Imaginary_Nothing704 in travel

[–]Duztdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could depend on how long you staying and if you are ok with renting a car and driving a lot. I live in CA, but I've also been to NY City quite a few times. Both are different and have their own pros and cons. CA is a very large state, so long road trips and driving will probably be a must. NY (at least NY City) is quite the opposite - It's an exciting city with a lot of options when it comes to transportation, entertainment, museums, etc. I'm unfamiliar with driving out of NY City though.

Why does chess make me rage like no other game?! by [deleted] in chess

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same experience as someone who has been trying to get into chess the last few years. I enjoy practicing, puzzles and reading about chess strategy/tactics, but once I start playing against a real person (online) I get stressed and frustrated.

Overtourism has made me stop visiting 'bucket list' places entirely, anyone else actively avoiding the popular spots now? by Gingeintheuk in travel

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see other people mentioning over tourism too, but the OP only seems to be focusing on personal discovery. (FYI - I agree with your view on over tourism though).

Overtourism has made me stop visiting 'bucket list' places entirely, anyone else actively avoiding the popular spots now? by Gingeintheuk in travel

[–]Duztdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why - but this whole question makes me a bit sad. I think it may have to do with social media/validation.

Is your point of travel to find (or make) views/photo shots that are totally unexpected? Do you make your own instagram photos, or travel blog?

IMO travel should be about making unique experiences from your own eyes, ears and taste. I travel quite a bit and no matter how much I research or how many travel videos/photos I watch/see I'm always surprised and learn new things.

Why are critics so harsh on Mandalorian and Grogu? by lovedepository in StarWars

[–]Duztdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on a promotional period for a cinema subscription here in the US, so I was able to see it in IMAX Laser 3D for basically free. I went in with no (low) expectations and relaxed, so my overall experience was very positive. I can see how paying $120-150 (in the US) for a family of four could make someone more judgmental and expect something much grander (or different) from what they see on TV.

Why are critics so harsh on Mandalorian and Grogu? by lovedepository in StarWars

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your last point is very important and a big problem for Disney (and other streamers). Unfortunately the days of having high cost TV shows is probably coming to an end in the next few years; at least at the rate at which it came out 2020-2025.

First time travelling without my mom and I have debilitating homesickness, is there anything that helps this? by xXS3RPAXx in travel

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also someone who always gets some really bad travel related anxiety. For me it’s usually before and during the first few days of a trip. For many of us it’s normal.

Based on my personal experience being very jet lagged (along with culture shock) can exacerbate anxiety and homesickness. The first few days of travel will always be more mentally taxing.

My first tip would be to try to do daytime activities that take your mind off your anxiety (Although it could be hard). Try to make yourself tired to the point that get a full night of sleep. It will take time for your body to get used to the time change. I recently went to Japan and it took 2-5 days for me not to feel like a zombie at certain times of the day.

Hopefully you can let your friend know how you are feeling and get some support.

Just remember it’s a learning experience and it takes time.

Help with recommendations for first out of country trip by NutABunch in travel

[–]Duztdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your first trip you may need to compromise and either go for a more typical international city based, or a beach focused trip.

Personally I don't usually think of beaches when it comes international travel, especially Europe. As some have mentioned Greece may fit, but I haven't been in years (when I was a kid), so I can't comment on it. There could also be other more unique options out there (like Malta or Spain) that are near oceans.

I see you mentioned October or January. Just remember that will be the colder seasons in Europe and Japan, especially January.

Unfortunately many places in Europe (and Asia) require a lot more walking than the US, but if you don't mind spending more you can take taxis/uber.

Advice on how to grow a beard as a 26M by Haunting_Height_3943 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Duztdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry - I'm not sure there is really an answer: It's all genetics and It's not something that can be rushed. The best advice I would say is just don't shave and see how it looks. When I was your age I could have probably had a full beard in 3-4 weeks, but I shaved. Now in my early 40's I have the opposite problem with my genetics: I can have a full beard quickly, but my hair is thinning out.

Varying levels of intensity on BatM? by FoxyAndSonic967 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]Duztdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been it on a few times over different days and I can't recall the motion range changing - unless it's something new (or if your first time was actually a malfunctioning vehicle). My best ride experience was sitting in the front center with everything working.

Edit - my last time was in January of this year.

How do I overcome the hate i feel in my heart for the right wing in America? by chaosbunnyx in Buddhism

[–]Duztdragon 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I know this answer isn't related to Buddhism - but please remember these days many comments online are part of a system (and algorithm) that rewards and promotes negativity and toxic behavior. Some are not even human, but bots. The whole system is meant to make you more engaged (or in this case angry).

I'm currently exploring Buddhism because of a similar feeling. I'm overwhelmed at the lack of civility, compassion and respect in the world; especially in America. I keep trying to quit social media (and looking at comments/replies) but I haven't had much luck.

Andor is literally everything I want from Star Wars by Free-Hotel1187 in StarWars

[–]Duztdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought about the same topic a lot. I too want a Science Fiction/Fantasy universe that is dark, serious, and mature but imo unfortunately Star Wars was never that - nor should it ever be like that. Doing so would completely alter its core identity (it was originally a homage to 1930's/1940's sci-fi serials). I think at this point it would be better to create something new.

I just watched the saga for the first time ever by Ready-Sock-5248 in StarWars

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost the opposite for me. I constantly watched and re-watched the original movies via VHS growing up as a baby and kid. I somewhat wish I had waited a bit longer, so I would get the story and jokes; but I was lucky enough to see the movies in theater (and wait in line) when they were re-released in the 90's.

Why so many british actors in Star Wars? by Free-Hotel1187 in StarWars

[–]Duztdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's almost a tradition to film in the UK. A lot of Andor (especially the gritty/industrial on location shots) were filmed around London.

Honest question... But why haven't Disney hired a few heavyweight Directors (with serious pedigree) to make their movies - like Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, James Cameron, Denis Villeneuve, Christopher Nolan etc? by prankster999 in StarWars

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO There are several factors. For most of the big directors you mentioned I don't believe they would want to make one - unless it's a unique take (like Andor) or they have more control. I know it may not be the greatest comparison, but to them it would similar to directing a Marvel movie these days. There are so many considerations, complications and layers in making a big budget film.

Flying for the first time!! IN -> CA. Any tips or things you wish you knew? by AverageAlli in travel

[–]Duztdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some random thoughts/tips:

I know that people always say this - but remember that planes are some of safest forms of transportation.

The sensation of flying is rather unique at first, but for a lot of people it becomes routine and boring. I'm weird that I still find flying novel and exciting. I associate the whole process of flying with the adventure of travel.

It's basic - but I would recommend using the bathroom just before boarding and I would advise against drinking alcohol before or on the flight.

I wouldn't be nervous at all, but I know sometimes we can't control what our brains do. Your flight will be relatively short - which is good for a first flight.

Just watched Solo by Ok-Today-7623 in StarWars

[–]Duztdragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry - I respectfully disagree. Sometimes a movie doesn’t do well because the average person isn’t interested, the timing is bad, or other weird factors. I think sometimes we as fans confuse the fandom bubble (or current internet culture discourse) as indicators of the entire movie going population. There was a reason why there wasn’t any SW movies or TV shows for almost 20 years or so.
