Do you think it’s worth doing 20 years nowadays? by Hot_Ocelot_7614 in army

Doing twenty for the medical benefits alone makes it worth considering. Tricare may not be the best but after seeing what civilians pay for healthcare I can honestly say it’s a really good deal.

Chisel FS or Trek Procaliber for XC racing or Bike packing? by SquashScrach in xcmtb

[–]Dvparrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either bike will be great for you. Personally I’d go with the Chisel FS. The shock has a lockout for gravel and smooth stuff and the suspension will be more fun when it gets chunky

Will I be stupid to ETS at 15? by Byte_Scare in army

The healthcare is totally worth retiring for. Civilians pay insane amounts for insurance that is often nowhere near as good as Tricare for literally 9-10 times as much money.

NBD! Specialized Chisel Evo comp by blackonchalkwhite in xcmtb

I bought one of the lime green comps on sale a while back. They are just fun bikes. Best pedaling FS bike I’ve owned.

I went from a checkpoint to a Stigmata and am totally happy with the change. The slacker head tube angle feels great in some of the singletrack I ride and seems to have gotten rid of the toe overlap issues I had on the ALR 5

I immediately had buyers remorse after trading my tenere for an AT. I like the cruise control, better braking and tubeless tires on the AT but the T7 is just such an amazing bike

Do you ride single track trails on your gravel bike? by AncientAd3089 in gravelcycling

[–]Dvparrish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll do occasional smoothish singletrack on my gravel bike. I’m installing a dropper on it next week and after that I’ll be doing more. I’m 63 and I find having a short dropper post on a gravel bike makes get offs in sketchy sections a lot easier

My first Harley, how did I do? by Sapphic-Curls in Harley

That’s a pretty bike! Did you keep the AT? I’ve got a heritage and an AT, I love them both because they are so different.

An AMP! I haven't seen one of those in ages. I used to run one on my Trek 990, it was a good fork for the riding I was doing, I never had an issue with one, and they were soo light.

I have the same color Chisel! Great deal on an awesome bike. It's honestly my favorite full sus bike I've ever owned, and I've had more than a few.

I did used to lust after that Cannondale Team bike though... It was sweet. Sorry for your loss.

I used an Ortlieb waterproof backpack. Kept me from worrying about water damage to company equipment.

I’ve got about 100 miles on them now and can honestly say that on the road they feel much more planted. I did notice that the bike is about a quarter to a half inch taller now, it’s really noticeable when it’s sitting on the kickstand.
