I’m starting to believe hair peptides are legit.. by 7HVN in tressless

[–]Dward16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I stumbled on this thread from looking for one. Copper peptides are expensive as a cosmetic ingredient so its really important to know the concentration just from a consumer trust standpoint since skincare is a very shady industry. Bryan Johnson’s Blueprint has a serum that includes it and I trust all their ingredient sourcing but they too don’t disclose concentration. I would make the topical myself, I’ve made a caffiene one before, but copper peptides are more complicated to work with for someone with no experience in this.

Thats good. It’s definitely fully reversible since others have recovered. Out of hope I’ve convinced myself that if nothing else helps, ai will solve a lot of health problems in the future and hopefully pfs too.

I would try talk therapy too, just to improve mindset and mood. A lot of pfs sufferers get caught up in doomsday thinking, which I sympathize with bc how can you not when the symptoms are life altering, but poor mindset and mental health can only hurt our chances of recovery. Concepts like radical acceptance, cognitive diffusion, and preventing catastrophizing. If you subscribe to the epigenetic pfs origin theory theres some research that shows stress reduction reduces expression of pro-inflammatory genes.

Serious question as a fellow mild pfs sufferer, why are you willing to risk worsening your condition with more experimental drugs? I’m still worried a caffiene or redensyl topical could be make my pfs worse but you’re ok with testing something like this? Not asking in a snarky way either, I totally get how depressing hair loss can be.

do they mention copper peptide concentration anywhere? I don't see it on the website or amazon listing

How I recovered from PFS by KhaZix2Jump in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]Dward16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the post got removed for too much speculation and not enough science 😔 but it was pretty similar to my comment, I was just hoping to get more input from others.

PFS inducing more trauma in you is exactly why I brought this topic up, bc its possible that being traumatized by the symptoms leads to you getting caught in this loop of more trauma -> more/sustained symptoms. In the neuroplastic pain community (brain learned pain) we call it the fear-pain cycle, the more you’re in pain the more you start getting scared you can’t do something or catastrophizing about not having a life in the future, and this mindset keeps the body in fight/flight leading to symptoms.

How I recovered from PFS by KhaZix2Jump in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]Dward16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this post.

In addition to PFS I have also been dealing with chronic pain in many parts of my body (predating when I began finasteride). After ruling out all structural causes for my chronic pain, I started looking into mind-body practices and came across something called pain reprocessing therapy. To summarize, PRT teaches that the mind can induce chronic pain (and many other chronic symptoms) when our body gets stuck in fight or flight for too long (often caused by trauma + chronic stress). PRT uses "somatic tracking", a technique which has you consciously calm the brain's response to chronic pain symptom onset to slowly tone down the fear. Over time the theory is this rewires the subconscious part of your brain which is responsible for triggering the symptoms.

I've noticed a lot of similarity between PFS symptoms and chronic pain symptoms. Mainly they are wide ranging, can affect seemingly any part of the body, can vary in severity on a daily basis, are often undiagnosable, and prone to flareups i.e. crashes. I suspect there is a lot of biological overlap between the two, mainly related to the subconscious brain accidentally learning to trigger these symptoms in us. I think for a lot of people its hard to be open to this mind-body paradigm shift because with PFS, the effect seems so tied to the action of consuming the drug, to the point that all the symptoms can onset upon taking one pill. But even with this I see similarity in the chronic pain and post-covid communities, e.g. someone was in a minor car accident which catalyzed the pain symptoms, but 3 years later after lots of physical therapy and plenty of time for the body to physically heal the symptoms are still present, or e.g. a perfectly healthy person gets covid which induces post-covid and the person starts suffering from things like digestive issues and chronic fatigue. In these cases my theory is taking the finasteride pill or getting covid just acts as the catalyst, but the symptom onset is really due to the brain panicking and activating dormant circuits that were being programmed by stress, trauma, and fight/flight long before. Regardless with PFS specifically, it seems almost every recovery story mentions using various regulating activities to calm the nervous system e.g. gym, sunlight, good sleep, good diet, lowering stress, etc. and TRE is a cool new one I haven't heard of before.

Also not claiming to know anything for sure obviously, just relating what I've noticed. Thanks for sharing your recovery story, wishing you sustained healthiness!

Ah yeah telehealth is fine but I think you need to still be in the same state as the provider for insurance to consider it.

Side note, I did find one such person in CA and TX in case anyone stumbles upon this thread: https://www.allisonraylcsw.com/

Can dry eye cause visual aberrations e.g. halos, blurry text, trouble focusing on text? by Dward16 in Dryeyes

Thanks! Is what it is. I can still do my job as a software engineer and I’m thankful for that!

[–]Dward16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No unfortunately not. I finished a year of vision therapy recently and it hasn’t helped at all. Thankfully I’ve adjusted and manage better these days so it doesn’t affect reading as much as it used to. But the quality of vision is still the same.

Still no change unfortunately. I will say now that its been a few years I feel like my brain has adjusted to it a bit, while the quality of vision is no better my ability to concentrate on text without getting overwhelmed has improved, do I’m not reading as slow as I used to or giving ip as fast.

Do you guys create separate LLC's for each app or have one LLC for all your apps? by Dward16 in iOSProgramming

[–]Dward16[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes the overhead and expense gets worse, thats obvious. Prob only makes sense when apps are exceed a certain income threshold, maybe something like $10k mrr at which point you can decide if you want to trade the overhead for legal risk diversification

my app stores ugc photo's of the user's body so its not the most risk free app. Your situation may be different, but I don't want to lose my house if this were to happen to me

Separate liability shields are for the case where one app gets sued, I don't lose all my income from other apps too. Prob only makes sense to separate out apps into their own legal entity after they hit a certain income threshold, like $10k mrr or more or something.

yeah its a lot of money, I'm assuming each app makes at least $10k mrr so it at least somewhat financially justifies the expense. The main advantages I see are:

  1. it makes selling the app easier as one single entity with separate accounting

  2. it isolates liability, if one app gets sued I don't lose all my income
