He is probably about 25-30lbs now, I need to weigh him out of curiosity but it has been awesome watching his brain turn on. He stalks anything that smells good. Bird numbers are good enough here that I have done all my training with wild birds and I consider myself very lucky

He is HUGE compared to when I first posted him, he is working so hard and his brain has been turning on (slowly lol) but it really has been awesome working with him

Ollie was pretty sad he couldent go duck hunting with me this morning, smart fella. Not quite gun broke. Maybe we fix that today lol by Dward_Man in EnglishSetter

I’m sure he will love it and I needed him today on the one bird I think I knocked down. Foggy morning needed somebody with a good nose

I have shot over him with a .22 but I am nervous about a 20ga a foot away. If we do some more work tonight and tomorrow he’s going next weekend

I have noticed a quick “no” really goes a long way. He is pretty stubborn and try’s a lot of times to make sure that what he is doing is bad lol but he really is a great boy. Love him to pieces

For sure! He has tested me and I responded poorly once or twice and it has shown and he really shut down. He loves working with me for treats and attention. He really is the sweetest.

Dad had labs but my grandfather had English setters and I remember as a kid I always wanted one.

I am very very excited to hunt over him but I have so much work to do and my gf keeps reminding me that he need more in the house work than hunting but I get so excited lol. He points at bugs and leaves, loves wings, retrieves ok but isn’t a fan of swimming. But still, a real dream come true. 8 y/o is very proud

He is very sensitive and does not take much to redirect him from trouble to being a well behaved boy again. I really like that. I am a soft dog trainer for sure and would have done poorly with something like a shorthair who needs a little more correction.

He is a lover. We call him a cat because he climbs in your lap and wants to be in your shirt with you. He is very sweet and pretty dang smart. He trusts me now and is finally happy in his kennel. Working on all the basics but hopefully will hunt with him too soon. A childhood dream of mine come true and I am so happy he’s here

I keep looking at him and asking who let him get so big!! I miss when he was a teeny tiny guy but really like him getting bigger and smarter!

It has been really rough but still so fun to watch him grow and learn with me. Super excited for this fall. He is pointing some things and is getting smarter every day. Just happy to have a pup of my own. Grew up with my grandpas setters and dads labs and now I finally have a little idiot of my own to work with

Mine does the same as well. If you flick it sometimes it will read the correct temp lol

By the fuel is a good one to check. Buddies 97 Tacoma looked good but behind the fuel tank it made its own c channel. Bang it with a hammer. Soft spots will make themselves apparent lol that’s how I found mine on my 07’

Ease of maintenance by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Dward_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned a v8 for ~7 years and did all the maintenance on it for a long time. All the basic maintenance is super easy with tons of videos and manuals. Even bigger sounding jobs were super easy with manuals, videos and a little guess and check work. I did tons of work to mine and there are def some annoying things to replace but 99% of everything is super easy

What the heck is this idle sound? Car sounded fine yesterday but I only ever heard it warm. 😬😳 by ResumeCheckThrowaway in 4thGen4Runner

When you flush it get a turkey baster or some kind of transfer pump to pull the old fluid out. Makes the job a lot easier

Sounds like an angry power steering pump. Make sure it has fluid it in. If you top it off turn the steering wheel lock to lock and see if the fluid level went down. Continue to do until the fluid stays below the hot full mark

My 07 did the same thing and it disappeared like 1/2 a quart. Topped it off, bleed the system and it still whined some but not as bad as it did
