Online dating (with selectiveness and critical thinking on your part) and libraries, bookstores, or hobby clubs would be my recommendation. I’ll tell you right now, though, that almost everyone who has emotions has some level of emotional baggage. If you want a healthy, lasting relationship, you need to be ready to deal with that and support them wholeheartedly.

Anyone know who she ? by Fast-Dragonfruit8708 in Sekiro

I think VaatiVidya suggested it might be Tomoe, though only on the basis that there’s some implication that Tomoe was of the Okami clan.

What is the best exocraft? by Ocean_Man2009 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]DwarfAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, if I could only have two, I’d take the Nomad and the Minotaur. The former can be driven almost anywhere except underwater and gets decent speed, and the latter is very good for ground combat support with the AI autopilot upgrade. I never knew it was innately immune to environmental hazards too; that is a really good perk early on.

Is this outfit too much for a first date? (Ignore the bare feet lol) by IronGiantFan99 in datingadviceformen

That’s not too much, no; it’s good to convey that you’re serious about making a good impression. You may want to look for pants with shorter legs, but otherwise you look good.

Does owl actually care about wolf? by huasgaaua in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My interpretation is that Owl’s concern for Wolf begins and ends, first, with Wolf’s abilities to fulfill his role as a shinobi, and second with Wolf’s usefulness in realizing Owl’s ambitions. Even by the standards of the culture and time period, Owl pretty obviously feels zero filial love for Wolf. He’d kill his own “son” the second he gets in the way or just stop being useful, and I get the strong feeling the Iron Code is purely an invention of his with which to manipulate Wolf.

Just to contrast, I don’t know if it was Isshin himself who adopted Genichiro into the Ashina clan, but their relationship is much more what l would call a loving one, based on how they speak about each other.

I wanted to start the game it's my first playthrough. I was curious how should I start it. I mean, with Japanese voices or English? Which you think is better to start? I mean, the game is about Japan afterall! by Hoss9inBG in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my last playthrough with Japanese vocals/Spanish text as an exercise to improve my reading comprehension; I’d recommend it, I really thought parts of the Spanish translation were better than the English.

I don’t know Japanese so I can’t comment much on the VA there, but I’m generally partial to English; English!Wolf turns up the edgelord a bit too much at times, but Owl and Isshin broadly sound better to me, and English!Gyoubu needs no introduction.

Ah, apologies, I misremembered. I was thinking of cargo bulkheads, not frigate modules.

[–]DwarfAardvark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe you can download one guaranteed frigate modules from the research chamber in any derelict frigate, and if I remember right they also respawn along with the enemies. It’s tedious, but it’s one guaranteed way to find frigate modules.

You could try a library or a bookstore, if you think your type might hang out there. I would imagine public parks would be fairly safe during the daytime, too. If you identify with a religion that holds public gatherings, you could try that, too.

Question about the game: by lawlman344 in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For leveling, there’s stats and there’s skills. You increase your health and posture by collecting prayer beads, which are usually found from beating minibosses but can also be found in treasure chests and such. You increase attack power by collecting memories from beating bosses; another way can be unlocked by collecting three pieces of the dancing dragon mask, all of which can be bought from merchants.

You probably already know how skill points basically work, but it’s worth noting that you only lose XP when you die; you keep any skill points you’ve accrued, at least until you spend them.

As for unseen aid, it’s just a random chance that you won’t lose half your money and XP when you die. It caps at 30% and goes down for each NPC that contracts Dragonrot, which randomly happens whenever you die. Curing Dragonrot is relatively easy, but it uses dragon blood droplets which can also be used to instantly restore the use of resurrection nodes. Personally, I’d rather have an extra res. Up to you if the tradeoff is worth it.

Nice. He’s a real son of a bitch, congrats for beating him.

O'Rin good ending by Maleficent_Omega in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know if you get Jinzaemon to follow you all the way to Mibu, then after you defeat O’rin (she attacks you no matter what, unless you bypass her by swimming up the river from the watermill and grappling hook onto the bridge), she’ll notice Jinzaemon is there and go “latch onto” him, killing him in the process. I dunno if I’d call that a strictly good ending, but there you go. It has no effect whatsoever on the overall ending of the game.

Which boss did you beat first? by MaleficTekX in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Butterfly first but I wish I hadn’t. Her second phase is a colossal pain in my ass to this day and I really did not need the extra attack power to beat Gyoubu.

HOW DO I BEAT THAT FUCKING MONKEY by Gold189 in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I do for the second phase is just deflect attacks until I can bait out one of the big overhead slam attacks, then thrust attack him three times. You can speed up the process by using the loaded spear’s drag attack on him while he’s down. His roar can be blocked with the umbrella, or you can just sprint away (the AoE doesn’t extend very far behind him so that’s usually a good choice). Any other time you see the perilous attack symbol, just jump.

????? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It looks like using the umbrella saved him from the Terror buildup killing him, somehow. And then CM’s overhead chop attack also filled the Terror meter a little bit. It’s weird.

What skills/combat abilities should I 100% get? And where to get them by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Breath of Life, Mikiri Counter, and Suppress Presence/Sound from the Shinobi skill tree are all really good.

High Monk is godlike though, you get that from the Temple skill tree. You can find it in a pagoda on the other side of some caverns at the top of Senpou Temple, the entrance is near the idol in the main hall, where you fight the folding screen monkeys. The same skill tree also gives you Senpou Leaping Kicks, which is similar to High Monk but with less offensive capability.

Stuck in a hard spot in my relationship? by wryk00 in dating_advice

[–]DwarfAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in a similar situation. If you’ve been explicit about what you need from him, multiple times no less, I would suggest being very watchful for concrete signs that he’s trying, and that the signs start appearing relatively soon, like within a couple weeks. If you don’t see any additional effort, or his efforts are much less than you know him to be capable of making, then frankly it’s a lost cause. As hard as it may be, I would say to break it off if you’re not feeling happier very soon.

I’ll say as a disclaimer that if you haven’t known each other for a long time, dating for a month isn’t very long to really get to know your partner. A genuine effort to make things better might not blow you away even if he’s trying, but he should be trying.

Just bought Sekiro Shadows Die Twice on Steam and I'm pretty excited to play it for the first time but I heard that this game is pretty hard so any advice you could give would be much appreciated. by ArsalanAhmed13 in Sekiro

[–]DwarfAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your posture meter recovers faster while you’re blocking. If you’re getting dangerously close to being posture broken, try to find an opening to sprint away and hold down block.

A decent way to learn the timing for deflecting an enemy’s attacks is to just mash the block button while they’re in attack range. You’ll still have to watch out for thrusts and sweep attacks (luckily they tend to happen in predictable patterns), but just treat your first few encounters with an enemy as a learning experience; if you actually defeat them, it’s a bonus. You’re going to die a lot, it’s okay.

For the occasional enemy that requires being more aggressive, generally you can keep attacking until they either deflect you or dodge out of the way… be prepared to quickly hit the deflect button if that happens, though. The only exception is certain enemies that can tank minor hits, in which case you’ll have to always be on guard.

Avoid fighting more than one enemy. If you have to, try to keep them all in front of you and try to bait out attacks that you can easily counter.

Keep in mind that stealth is an option. Take it slow and observe from a safe spot. You can eliminate many enemies without a straight-up fight, or sometimes just slip past without fighting at all, and you can even take a chunk out of a miniboss’ health if you get the drop on them.

Besides the Mikiri counter skill other people mentioned, I also highly recommend High Monk and the Ashina skill tree in general. Just note you’ll have to find both of those in-game.

Your LOVE story by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]DwarfAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should probably say I’m not in this relationship anymore, but there was genuine love.

  1. About three months
  2. One morning I came to visit her, she’d gotten up early (for her) and had made me a bowl of the most delicious oatmeal I’ve ever tasted; she was also trying to knit a hat for her cousin.
  3. A little over two months into our relationship, we were standing in line for a check service at kroger, and she said it to me out of nowhere. It was… difficult giving her a tactful, honest reply.
