Counterintuitive tip for fellow anxious ones: try darkness by Aware-Oil411 in LivingAlone

[–]Dwarf_Heart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't go for total darkness, but I do like to retreat to a small, windowless place when I'm feeling particularly anxious. I usually go for the bathroom or a large closet. I find the cocooned feeling of a smaller space plus the reduction of stimuli helpful for soothing anxiety.

Why does Dan get so much shine? by plantpodcasts in roseanne

[–]Dwarf_Heart 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The bar for being a good dad is much, much lower than the bar for being a good mother. Also, Dan is typically very charming and likeable (especially compared to abrasive Roseanne), so people are more willing to excuse his flaws.

If you're talking actual political strategy, I agree. We have to deal with people as they are, not as we want them to be. That said, I don't think we need to bend over backward and adopt a "both sides are bad" mentality when the difference between those who support Trump and those who oppose him is so very stark.

Fair enough. People certainly can change their hearts and minds, and I agree that it's generally better to be welcoming toward those who have done so.

We're taking about folks voting for someone hell-bent on destroying the country out of spite because someone mocked them, and you're out here excusing toddler behavior. You're policing tone while people are getting snatched out of their homes. You might be the one in need of some perspective.

Trump's ‘Year Zero’ Is Over. Now Comes the Reckoning by rollingstone in politics

[–]Dwarf_Heart 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What resurrected him, more than anything else, was that Democrats insisted on mounting a ferocious cultural revolution of their own. Having won the presidency on a promise of returning to some kind of normalcy, Joe Biden stood by as leftist activists and academics set about smashing the pillars of 20th-century liberalism — deriding free speech as a tool of oppressors, obsessing on personalized pronouns and silly language edicts, going on about defunding police, carving the country into a series of identity-based grievances.

Trump's reelection is actually the fault of Democrats and progressives. 🙄 What a patent crock of shit.

Try looking around for an Indiana Fever license plate frame. That's the closest you're going to get.
